This is an absolutely first rate documentary about the Soviet Union of the 1950's, with a minimum of propaganda. Anybody born after 1990 who wonders what the place was really like couldn't do better.

This is absolutely from 1956. First, the film itself says so, even though you have to read it through the never to be damned enough watermark. Secondly, the index of Army Films says so. Annnd there's the fact that Stalin was still alive in 1951.

Wow, I can’t believe how many people have got their knickers in a knot over a mistake regarding the year this was filmed, ok it’s a mistake and I am sure P.F can easily rectify that very very small point. Personally I am watching to see how things were seen through American eyes during this era, and it’s very interesting and different to today, except the transportation modes and infrastructure, I am pretty sure those farming implements are still in use today, and the women working in the fields, they a definitely still there, come rain, shine, or howling sub-zero weather. Thanks for sharing this interesting and informative film P.F. 😀👍🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

No, it's not a small point. Facts are facts. Why are some viewers so sensitive about criticism of the video? I see this in the comments on almost every video, even when the content is really, seriously incorrect. All I see is effusive praise for careless work. You do the content provider a disservice. Constructive criticism is a good thing. If mistakes are not pointed out, they will not be corrected, and will propagate. You seem to be "sure that PF can easily rectify that very very small point". It's been 2 years, and it is still not rectified. Also, PF is not a person, and I don't think you have to protect it's feelings. I take them at their word when they say, "We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, *to provide additional information* about our videos by adding a comment!" Mistakes are "additional information". BTW if have made any errors, feel free to correct me.

This film is dated wrong. It refers to Stalin's death. Stalin died in 1953

There was another United States Army film made about The Soviet Union during WWII. It was singing the praises of The Soviet Union. I cannot find it anywhere on KZfaq, although it was quite easy to find before the Russian Invasion of Ukraine. Can anyone here help?

You should keep in mind that this is 1951 - only 6 years after the end of a devastating war, during which the SU lost 20 million people and part of its territory was occupied and scorched. He keeps comparing it to the US, where no single factory was bombed!

As the film pointed out early on, people were paid on the basis of skill and educational level, work value and output. Sounds pretty capitalist to me.
