I loved the I am an American Day Parade!! I have wonderful memories as alittle boy watching the Parade. It's such a shame that it was discontinued!! It was a great time back in the old days, seeing the military marching, the bands, and the hummers... I loved the parade, and always looked forward to it every year, when September came around, you knew it was time for the I am an American Day Parade!!

I thought the horses were always at the end of the parade. I marched it with the Kingsmen in 1960.

That was wonderful to see Baltimore Drum and Bugle Corps before I was born July 1953; my family came up with moral and strict discipline and placed in the American Legion and Elks youth and senior drum and bugle corps in Baltimore, Maryland, it was good for the spirit and shaping the minds of the youth; and for the most part kept them away from gang activities. With summer activities and traveling; it was wonderful times, however by the time came around to understanding their purpose; with the coming of the Vietnam Conflict and drafting of the youth, and the civil-right’s movement Baltimore along with all the other major cities in the United State took a plunge for worse. Thank you for the share, I only pray that there would be some way to pick up on the sound.

Moved to Eastern Avenue in 1957 and remember them all until it stopped in the 90's. PROUD to be an AMERICAN. Legal immigrants took their Oath of American Citizenship on the review stand by the end of the tennis courts.

This was Baltimore! Once Upon a Time! and that was Long Ago! Baltimore is runned down, ridden with the Highest Crime Rating in the state of Maryland. This state needs Real Leadership! A Good Governor and a good Mayor, aswel as other Honest Government Employees, at lower levels and this Corruption is Not Fair! to the Poor People living in Baltimore City!

Do you have any more video from, or or earlier in that area? My grandparents, and great grandparents used to run a bakery by what is now the Dodge garage and I'm trying to find her video as my grandmother is 100 in six days.

Congratulations on all your hard work ... As an amateur genealogist (a position I never volunteered for, nor was I elected -- it just seems to be destined!) I know the love you've put into this. Best regards ... Anne Tempera

TOFKAS01 Except these people participated volunteered not forced. Nor the people watching had machine guns at their backs. I remember this parade and attended all but my time in the service. As now I attend all the Heritage Fairs celebrating the 4th of July. The US may not be perfect but having been overseas it certainly better.
