My very first guitar was a 1954 Stratocaster that my dad gave me for Christmas of 1963 ... well worn out by that time, but it was GOLD to me!

Yeah this is the thing, how is the nitro that old and still perfect like it was. Nitro just don't do that especially over that long. Those knobs don't look right either cause my short skirt knobs are way more noticeable than that. They look like top hats almost. Those seem to be normal knobs. But hey if normal says it's really all original they would know

I have a '56 hardtail that I purchased from the original owner's family. I've been playing almost 60 years and it's the best sounding Strat I've ever played, and I've owned a LOT of them.

Never met a Strat who's tremolo I didn't block;-) I'd love to own a good hardtail. I wish they sold these 50/50. Some with and some without!

Alex Lytle, a stupid comment! The sound and the style are what makes the Strat so special. Your comment implies that you can't make any music on the Strat without using (overusing) the trem arm. I'll take a hard-tail Strat any day. (Especially the one on this youtube!!!!! ) I've got one with trem, and two blocked.

Russell Parratt everybody has their own opinion. Don't call someone stupid because they think that a hardtail strat is pointless and takes away from the true meaning of a real Fender Stratocaster

I didn't say you were stupid. I said your comment was stupid. The strat is far more than a tremolo arm. (vibrato, actually) True, it was a great invention, and I prefer the original design to the more recent 2-point design. But, you block a strat, or find a hardtail, and it's still a strat. 100% strat. 😊

I like Mark Agnesi playing old guitars. I've been watching clips for a long time but this is the first time I commented. I think his choice of tunes he plays is great and he's a really nice guitar player. I learned a lot about old guitars from Norman's Rare Guitars. I own some old guitars myself. Mark is the luckiest man alive ! The second luckiest dude in the world is the dude that works at the fender costume shop getting paid to make brand new guitars look old , beat up and distressed. I wish I had the money....there’s a gorgeous 2-tone sunburst 1955 hardtail - all original w/ original case - listed on Reverb right now for $37,500 obo. If I had even anything close to that much available to spend on a guitar, I’d have made an offer the moment I saw the first photo. It looks exactly like this one. Absolutely stunning guitar!!!!

Ya'll make it easy for me to see what chord(s) you're using etc. I'll never be able to afford the guitars you feature but your vids are also great guitar lessons with the what must be thousands of songs you know... Venus, by Shacking Blue, for the middle pickup. Awesome choice. But PLEEEEZ show and demo the two out of phase positions on those old Strats. Especially on these 50's guitars. Those in between the pickup sounds (no five way switches on those oldies) are the most stunning of all. A '54 Strat has the most amazingly bell-like sounds in those spots.

That looks more like a sassafras body to me but its so close to ash its hard to tell sometimes. That bridge pickup is probably the best i ever heard

Great thing about strats - despite being the most iconic guitar they are usually not as stupid expensive as pre 60 Les Pauls. Not that I'm saying they're cheap...that would be rediculous :D But you know, if you're a working man you tell your wife one day "honey, we're not buying second car for you. I want a '54 Stratocaster" :)

the pickups look sky high but then again that might be a 1 ply pick guard which can give the illusion of high pickup height

My uncle had one and when he played it through his 58 tweed bassmans it sounded so good with reverb tanks hooked up too, sometimes he'd take his Marshall 66 jtm45/100 and hook it up with the bassmans
