The first car that I ever drove. Lots of memories. I remember it would take a minute for the tubes in the radio to warm up.

Had one just like it...a Fairlane Club Sedan (2-door) with the 272 Y-block V8, and 2-speed Ford-o-Matic trans. That's the deluxe upgraded heating system that came in Fairlanes (but not the base model, Mainliner or Custom), as well as the clock and push-button AM radio. The more basic radio didn't have the push-buttons; only the manual circular dial. The clocks are easy to fix. The chief cause of malfunction is that they accumulate dust in the main-spring mechanism and a little corrosion on the electrical contacts. It works by electro-magnet that winds the clock every 6 minutes, then when the cam strikes the electrical points contact, it winds it again for another 6-minute cycle, then repeats. Just picture this as an auto-winder of a regular old manual wrist or pocket watch.

Very original Ford looks great, I drove a 1953 custom line in the state of Washington I bought it for fifty dollars and I got it running, drove it all the way home back to LA California and sold it for 800.00 back in the 70s.
