Yes 365s were still available in 58 . 1959 was the first yr for the 390 , and the 390 was used until 1964 and the 429 was used from 64 to 67 . 1968 was the first yr for the 472 and it was used till 74 .

This beautiful Caddy has made its way out to Portland Oregon after spending a couple of years out in Maryland. I found this beauty online when it was for sale in Houston but was not ready to make the deal at that time.

I believe they were still running the 365cid in 58. I dont remember cads ever having a 396cid. They had a 390 from 59 to 63.

You are correct as to the 365cid. It developed a factory advertised 310hp and was noticeably underpowered, especially when the A/C was in use, and the A/C was not adequate to cool the interior of the vehicle, even in mild heat. In a passing situation my Dad always shut off the A/C until he got around the guy ahead of him. The A/C pulled about 10HP and it made a difference.

I understand that 1959 was originally intended to be an update of 1958 but Chrysler Corp. styling changed things. 1959 Fleetwood at least carried extra chrome side trim but would love to see what revised 58 Fleetwood Sixty Special would have been. Even more chrome trim ? See my other post!

After spending a small fortune to have had this car refurbished, like it is, I wonder why the owner didn't invest the $900.00 for a new manifold exhaust. That would have made all the difference in the world.

If you rewind it a few times, you will see that it came from beneath the rear tire. It must have been something on the road.

A Cadillac without working air cond, take $5000 off the price because that's what it will cost to fix it. Also one of the high beams is burned out. Do you folks even check the basics?

Shouldn't cost that much. You could probably get it done for less than half that. Someone like Gateway who can get wholesale pricing can probably have it done for not much more than $1000. Gateway should fix both those issues before offering it for sale, especially in Texas. Who wants a car that doesn't have working A/C in Texas?
