Out of all my vintage outboards, this has to be one of my favorites. It runs really well, very strong, and is very light. It will go 20mph on my 11' Aluminum with me and 6gal of gas. Excuse the wind noise...

I have one of these too. Cannot use it anymore because cannot get seals. Also, someone stole my gas can out of my shed (motor was in a different place), and took the gasline along with the special Elgin fitting with it.

The connector is in stock at West Marine. I forget who else used it, I think Suzuki or something, but it's definitely there and in stock! What seals do you need for your motor?

@@peterfaggella3120 Really? That's awesome. West Marine is where? Can I mail order? I'm in Canada. I haven't looked at the thing in 10 years or so, but that sound in your vid... sure brought back memories. I have a Honda 10hp, fine, but much heavier than the 2-stroke. The seal was the one that kept water from getting into the prop gears. Also, I think the seals into/out of the water pump.

I looked at West Marine. Nothing matches. It's a very unusual fitting. It's commented on here at the 4:00 mark: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jrh-oM9eyrGuhmQ.html

@@krabkrabkrab I just picked up a '58 West Bend Barracuda (built in Barrie, ON) and the guy who had it before me changed the original motor side connector for an OMC one. He put it on a short length of fuel line. It looks a little funny hanging off from the front of the motor but it woks fine. I need a water pump impeller for it. Any idea where I can get one? I'm in Ontario.

@@georgekeats1478 Thanks for tip. No idea on impellers. But I found this (for a 7.5hp): www.ebay.com/itm/New-Sears-Elgin-West-Bend-1957-7-5-HP-Outboard-Motor-Water-Pump-Impeller-50065/351662606390

Hi Tom, it comes out of the exhaust port on the back. It's a great motor. This is one of my favorite motors I have.

@@peterfaggella3120 Thank you for the reply! I agree, great motor! would be nice to find someone who sells seals. Ours leaks a bit from the gear shaft seal. Is the oil mix 50:1 btw? seems to run fine....Ive read 24:1 and 16:1 on some forums
