This film was directed by Lew Fonseca, former Indians batting champ and former White Dox manager. He was one of the first to use films to analyze players.

It's an absolute historical travesty that the Brooklyn Dodgers went to LA.

hardly- the inherent problems in Brooklyn were all eliminated with major leagues expansion west in '58, as both the NY Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers relocated . In only their second year in LA, the Dodgers win the pennant, and defeat the White Sox, while setting the record for most fans to witness a WS, with games three, four and five, all exceeding 90k. Top that Brooklyn- over a quarter million fans in the stands.

I was a little too young to remember this world series but know this Dodgers team is a mix of Brooklyn Dodgers still on the team and Dodgers players when they were very young I remember so well on their good teams in the 1960s. Junior Gilliam though had a long career including time in Brooklyn and L.A. I remember attending Cards games in the early 1960s and Wally Moon still being a fan favorite since he had played well for the Cardinals in the 1950s. Cards fan

The old "hum baby" (Roger Craig) got lit up in game one. I remember that game was a blowout. I forgot that Klewchowski, (sp?) was with the Sox. I remember him with the Reds. (He still had the sleeves cut off his uniform.)

he was trade just before the deadline that season. The sleeveless thing was a bit tacky. If your friggin' arms are to big for the size uniform (sleeve movement) that fits the rest of your upper torso, then simply cut (and just add fabric and re-stitch) the sleeves, but don't sever them from the rest of the uniform top. That was an ego thing for him. Early Wynn starting game one was a treat- says he led the majors that season with 22 wins. He was 38 or 39yrs old that season.

I wasnt born till '61. Sox fan since '71. These 2 teams in '59 might just be the 2 worst teams that played against each other in WS history.. You might have 1 fairly avg team..like '73 Mets but have a very good A's team to counter. Both these were just GOOD teams. Maybe Braves were better than both lost in a playoff I guess against LA.

The U.S. flag at 12:56 is out of date. It has 48 stars, but it should have 49 - even though all 50 states had been admitted to the Union. The policy is to add the star for a state the next July 4, so because Alaska joined in January 1959 the LA Memorial should have updated its flag that July. Hawai'i was added in August 1959, so its star wasn't due on the flag until July 1960.
