We're looking at a 1961 Pontiac Catalina Convertible in Tradewind Blue paint. Owner Larry Crosby shares he’s had the car since 2004. Reason he has this car? He shared he met his wife in a car just like this one, and wanted to get another one like it, so he did.

my buddy had a '61 Bonneville hardtop also in Tradewind Blue. It had a 389 with a cam upgrade. We cruised 'the valley' and Hollywood on Saturday nights. Quick car and I'm sure the Catalina shone here was quicker. Just loved those Pontiacs from 61 to 64. I had a number of Pontiacs: 63 Bonneville, 64 Bonneville, 68 Tempest, 69 Firebird convertible, 69 Bonneville and finally a 74 LeMans. You can guess which one I'd like to have back!

This also was one of my favorite cars as a teenager. When I was 19 I was lucky to purchase the following years model, a 62 bonneville.

Lou one of the memorable cars that got away so to speak when I was a young man was a 63 Pontiac Grand Prix 2dr. with original Gold paint and 60+K miles back in 75. It wasn't a lot of money at the time only $650 but I was working in a restaurant for $1.15 an hour. So I put up my 62 Nova 2dr. up for sale! Sadly the Grand Prix sold first and I was not able to get it. It was in amazing condition back then and is on my list of the top 5 cars that got away during my life.

I like how you present the vehicles on this site. Every one has a personal story shared by the owner. This one in particular owing to the viewpoint of the dashboard brings to mind a memory of me and my older brother riding in my uncle's 61 Oldsmobile 4 dr wagon on the way to his summer camp in upstate NY when I was 12.

Viewed this video again. Noticed that the original sticker with options and destination charge appeared to say $3716. This car would have looked better with full wheel covers (They were optional) or 8 lug nut aluminum wheels.

That does bring back good times. I had one 1961 pontiac catalina convertable color was dark red four speed (Hurst kit) 348 tri power with 356 rear. Purchased new for $3600.00.in Flushing New York. Sold three year later for $1800.00 . Can't afford another " But seeing yours today brings the boy in me again. Use it health Don

CATALINApI had one almost baby blue with some little flecks..I had the family car, but I had to go to college...I would think for 50 years Catalina 1961, but I want again.. As a teacher, I asked the students, if they are rich for thirty years. but I love the blue, but the top is white.....A teacher is not rich, but I love seeing...Thanks Bonnie

Beautiful car nice color matched convertible top color. The 4 BBC 389 V8 and the 4 on the floor appears to be the most significant option. I'm thinking it has an AM non wonder bar radio, The clock was optional. I'm thinking the original MSRP as optioned was about $3750 back in 61. The 4 speed and the color match are two outstanding features of this car.

What the sticker price ? Beautiful car. Pontiac was known for it's stylish cars. The age of the metal dash before paddling. No furry dice.

Although the Catalinas were slightly more expensive, The Chevy Impala, Ford Galaxie and the Plymouth Fury had nicer exterior and interior appointments.

fuel gauge on the RIGHT of the steering column. i would like to compile a little data on how often that actually occurs over the years. i'm convinced that GM does it more than other makers. Buick electra 225's and Rivieras for one.

And the nasty fellows can’t control it so much by a computer. Has no speed limiter and you can not shut it down with a chip . And it’s safer than the air bags cars .

Lou Costabile Once a car has been repainted the originality is gone, and that car would be 5 times more desirable black than baby blue. Nuff said.
