So the owner bought a cowl, dash, windshield post and vin tag at this point. Good thing is alot of the parts are available for 63, but might be back ordered right now. But Mr guzzi this brings up a topic many won't discuss. ....a 63 4 door donor car could be bought and used to replace alot of sections....but which makes more sense.. 1. Taking parts off 4 door to save convertible. Or 2. Converting the solid 4 door to a convertible....

I'm not opposed to using donor vehicles.... but..... that's a lot more work, you have to remove the panel, clean and prep the panel, repair any damage on the panel . Yes there are instances where that may be the only option say a 58 Impala quarter but in general donor cars add to the labor cost sometimes doubling it. I can handle any level of repair but the question become how much the customer wants to invest in the project. Thanks for supporting the channel !

@@guzzifabrication3448 yes. I agree. Beware if anyone brings you a 60. Last I heard there aren't any repop quarter patches anymore. I was told the dies are worn out and no longer useful....could spell trouble for 60 impalas...

We worked a buddies 63. Quarters looks great. Bottom was all single card stock covered in bondo. Ugh

My goodness, that was unexpected. Thank you for the video. You said there was no way to know before the media blasting. But now that you know all the issues and their exact locations, would there have been a way to spot those upfront? Might be interesting to re-release your old footage (before the sandblasting) but with a new audio track, commenting on all the spots where the previous repair shop performed the cover up.

Let me clarify.... it's difficult to know the extent of the rust damage before media blast... I never inspected the Impala before shipping to media blast. The point I was making is before purchasing a vehicle, have it thoroughly inspected by a professional . The car was shipped to us, had I pre inspected, yes I would have seen definite issues and then performed an invasive inspection for previous work, collision, and rust damage. Thanks for watching !

I have a 63 and 64 I would cry if I'd ran into anything like this, this is like stupid crazy especially if I paid to have something like this done!!! now you have to pay to redo/do what someone didn't do right looks like on purpose, it's a damn shame this was done

I feel bad for the owner. If there is anyone who can bring that car back from the dead, it is you but wow that will be a lot of new metal. I thought I saw pop rivets holding panels together. That has always been something I look for. If you see pop rivets, there is a good chance there is other shoddy repair work on that car. Looking forward to your continued work on this car.

So I take it that the owner gave you the green light to proceed with the work? I can't wait to see you do your magic on this one. I've followed and watched your builds on the 62' and 64' a few times each, but this ragtop is the one I'm definitely wanting to see you work on since I've got the exact same vehicle but in much worse shape. I should email you the pic's. I definitely need to change almost EVERY piece of sheet metal.

Wow, you have your hands full, the buyer got screwed and the lunatic who did that to that car deserves to be tarred and feathered. I bought a 63 falcon, never wrecked the floor pans we replaced to have a solid car. I feel for y’all.

Ouch!! Upper trunk floor and rear wheelhouses they don’t make either. They don’t make a lot of these parts for the convertible. Man. Curious to see what the customer decides.

Hello. do you know if anyone makes the middle rocker panels for the 1963- 4 convertibles , all I can find is inner /outer and bottom braces .. keep the videos coming. brass is nasty at least in this car.

I bet this car comes from ohio or the rust belt states i know i bought a 63 impala convertible from ohio and it was in worse condition than this car i ended up selling it reselling it due to the extent of the damage due to rusted pannels it needed complete floors, quarters pannels,inner and outer rockers,door skins,lower fenders patch pannels,front lower hood rust,trunk rust repair in the ussual areas yes enormous task and money to restor im glad i got rid of it.
