1963 Nova SS for sale at Coyote Classics
Take a look at this sweet 1963 Chevrolet Nova SS! As far as early '60s performance goes, it doesn't get much better than this. In fact, 1963 was the very first year that an SS option was even offered for the Nova! As was common with late '50s to early '60s performance cars, this Nova is pretty bare-bones with not a whole lot of luxury, but the performance this Nova offers more than makes up for it. Even though the '63 Nova SS cars were not offered with V8s, this one is an exception. The original six has been swapped for a 327 C.I. Chevrolet V8 paired to a 4-barrel carburetor, meaning this Nova offers the best performance the early '60s could offer outside of a Hemi or a Corvette. That power is backed up to the rear wheels through a robust 2-speed automatic "Powerglide" transmission, making this Nova not only a performance icon but also a great cruiser. The white paint on this Nova gleams beautifully under the sun and is sure to turn heads up and down the street. The interior opulence is sparse, but it has plenty of charm with blue bucket seats and chrome trim. Options on this '63 Chevy include power brakes, vent windows, adjustable bucket seats, electric wipers, a heater + defroster, and a nice-sounding dual exhaust system. The car rides on some shiny SS wheels with hubcaps on top of some Winston Winner GT RWL tires. These days, its pretty tough to come by a muscle car icon such as the first-year 1963 Nova SS. Well, we've got one right here, so don't let it slip away!

My sister had one of those when I was a teenager, same color and everything. Hers however had the factory 6 cylinder and the rear tire skirts... Not well maintained and all in all a POS that she didn't have for very long. This car on the other hand is a beast that somebody put a lot of effort into taking care of 🙂

I also agree that unless you got a built motor , headers are more headache. The bolts tend to loosen, more heat under hood ,unless wrapped. Gaskets can blow out. Good flowing manifolds are ideal. Some flow better than others

Had a '63 once, what a fun car with a 3 speed and a 327. I got too may tickets in it tho and lost my license for a month, lol.

That's really sweet 🥧 those early 60s novas are the lightest of novas. The 194 that came in that car was a great engine, just not too powerful. I wonder if any 3 speed manual ss models came from factory? Absolutely great car

The body is actually badly rusted on the right side, behind the door. The paint covers up a lot of it, but when you see the paint blistered like that, I can guarantee it has some serious rust underneath. The left rear quarter panel has quite a bit of body filler in it. A very thing coat of filler wouldn't crack like that. And since it has been repainted, there is no way to tell how bad it is without removing the paint. These cars were VERY prone to rust. I am very familiar with this particular make, model, and year. I got a white 1963 Nova SS in 1975, at age 16. It had been in the family for a couple of years before that. My dad bought it in 1973. He gave it to me when I got my license. It was an original Phoenix, AZ car, and it STILL had some rust spots at 10 years old. It was a 4 lug car, with the straight six and a powerglide. It had a black interior, with that large chrome console. The round shift knob was chrome. The radio was missing. I had a friend who was a farm mechanic. His grown son, who was a hot rodder, had gotten married and moved out. With his son out of the house, his dad was thrilled to help me work on the car. We replaced the straight six with a 283, also kept the oem manifolds, he made up some header pipes that bolted to the manifolds, and we put welded torpedo type glasspacks on it, with the exhaust exiting below the doors on both sides. We replaced the rear end, not sure what it came out of, with a 5 lug Posi, and I put air shocks on the back to jack it up high enough to clear the huge Mickey Thompson L60-14 rear tires. Kept the 13" front tires, but on chrome wheels. I owned that car for over 10 years, and worked on it the whole time. Never did put a radio or stereo in it, you couldn't have heard it over the sound of the exhaust anyway. I would love to find another one, but the prices are too high for not being able to tell what kind of condition they are really in. You never find one that has not been repainted. That one looks great, but it does have some problems under the new paint, they could be minor, or they could be bad enough to make the car practically worthless.
