I've done that a time or 2. It's a pain but it works! Great tip! 🏁

Thanks Tony! yeah not the way I like to do it, but it can be done if there is no other option. Like the old saying, many ways to skin a cat, but this is when that cat is still alive & NOT HAPPY..... lol.

I would think a ratcheting wrench would be really handy in a situation like that. Good stuff Brother Bare. And you never answered my text.

Funny you say that.... lol. Doing almost this exact same thing, is why I will NEVER buy those standard ratchetting wrenches.... lol. The ones you have to flip over to change directions? You get them stuck in there and bolt is loose so you can't tighten it back up to get the wrench out..... lol. Now I ONLY look at the ones that you can reverse like a regular ratchet..... lol. They cost more, but are WELL worth it if you've done that once in your life time!

(strange I don't know why my reply didn't go through on this, sorry about that man) Yeah, it's definitely not the fun way to do it, but this little slant 6 is too far gone for me to think about dumping the money into it. But we have other plans coming on the other slant 6 I was going to put in here. Was talking to my dad, and he wants to build a Fork-Lift that we can use to move these dead cars and stuff around with. That 904 tranny and the torque of a six would be perfect for that.... lol.

Well good luck with all that. Not sure why you're sticking with another slant six but then again it's not mine. I got rid of my 64 Comet because I knew if I had kept it what would happen.
@BareRoseGarage
@BareRoseGarage Жыл бұрын
Originally I was just going to toss that other slant in here and sell it all to help fund the '58 build...... and it happened. It kind of grew on me while I was using the car to set up my lift (it's the lightest and smallest one I have to test & adjust the lift with). As for what's going in there..... not sure yet. Something I already have, and already runs..... lololol

@@BareRoseGarage Just remember that all growths can be removed😆. Then you have to ask yourself which do you want more and how will it be funded. The Comet I had was 99.99% original. With the exception of the paint and trims. Had I kept it the running gear would have all been changed including the interior.

@@lynnrunningdeer7364 I hear ya man. It was probably the 200 "log" six, FoMoCo's answer to "how do we make Mopar and GM better?" Yeah.... the economy cars of the sixties where filled with challenges, but at least FoMoCo and GM kept it all straight enough you could swap it out if you didn't like it... lol. This thing.... the whole car is molded around that thing... lol.

@@BareRoseGarage No actually it was a 260 v8. But I wanted bigger and a standard. I wanted the 65 but his son got instead because he had four bolt rims that he wanted to keep from his King Cobra🙄. It was a standard but it had the six cylinder in it. They did a pretty job on painting and air brushing but the motor was basically junk. The cam was too big and so was the carburetor.

Any chance of buying that oil pan from you brother bare?

If you need it, it's yours Brother Ary. Don't know how good it is, but me and Cousin mike will figure out how to get it to you if you want.

@BareRose Garage How bad are we talking? Deep pitting or just ugliness? I'm really tempted to just dimple my pan with a dolly but after all the time I put into that engine it seems like a waste.
@BareRoseGarage
@BareRoseGarage Жыл бұрын
@@AryDontSurf not sure, I haven't had a chance to pull it off yet. I've been snowed in for the past week and down with a MASSIVE head cold, Cousin Mike hasn't even made it over this week..... we kinda got nailed with old man winter this week. Tell ya what, I'll pull it and give it to Mike, he has your address right? and we'll figure out how to get it to you brother. The problem with dimpling them, is that you warp the flange doing it... unless you do it when it's bolted down on the block. And doing that to an engine you did so much work to is... yeah.... lets try and get you a good one. If this one is no good, Walt has 2 more out there in Tyhee. Looking at the Early ones to the Later ones...... they are totally different. The sump is shaped for that pitman arm, and it's shallow all around because these things do the Belly Skid so you need that shallow pan on yours.
