1965 Dodge Dart GT Budget Build, Weight Watchers Special, it's all about where it's at

Weight Management is far more than just dropping weight off a car (or truck) to get the results you are looking for. As you see in this video, it's also in where that weight is put in that car. In this case it's in this 65 Dodge Dart GT with the 225 inline "Charger" Slant 6 (what is commonly called - the leaning tower of power).... and it all starts with where the engine is placed on the centerline of the front "axle" (or wheel hubs). Slight changes here add up to huge differences in how the vehicle not only handles but responds to the things you are trying to do with it.
So with all that, you are seeing step 1, in the planning phase of how I'm going to overcome the challenges presented to me in how to get this little 1965 Mopar Dodge Dart to get it to "hook and book" at the 2nd Annual #NoNameNationals this year in Sikeston MO.
Once again, I'm doing this video series "as seen through the eyes of someone that has little experience with Mopar" it is quite possible that Mopar uses their "Rube Goldberg" Engineering on that K-Member to distribute the front-end weight in a way I'm not seeing it. I'm not a mechanical engineer by any means, I'm just a guy that likes to play with Hot Rods & Rat Rods. So, what you are watching, is how my mind works when I look at things like this for the 1st time, and how I incorporate that into what I know, to get what I want at the end..... if that makes sense. Hope you enjoy and stay tuned for more to come on this little journey of mine through the oddities of classic Mopar.

Thank you for the engine placement from the rat rod standpoint. I was wondering about that.

One thing to remember, if you keep the 6 cylinder torsion bars, it will let the front end raise much faster and better weight transfer to the rear. Just a thought.

Great video !!! I enjoyed your points !! The V8 would sit a little better for ya for what you want. The early A's are more challenging in more than one way, including space under the hood. '67 on up A-bodies are some more forgiving. Oh, as far as the Camaro hooking up right off the show room floor ??? Might have had a lot to do with a lack of power !!! 😂😂

Hello 318willrun. I am confused on his 65 Dart Gt. I had one in Highschool back in the day. My Gt was a 273ci Hi Po, 4 speed. I didn't think a Gt would have a 225ci slant six in it. They were used in the 4 door models, like my Dad's 64 dart 4 door. What cha got on this 318? The 273ci was a perfect fit for the Gt and virtually bullet proof.,at least mine was. Never an engine problem, ever.

Thanks a million for that 318willrun! I totally dig all the challenges this little thing is handing me even if I haven't really gotten my hands dirty on it yet. It's kind of like starting all over again, with a different light... lololol. All those years playing with what I could afford..... yeah.... we had to get a little creative to play with the guys with lots of power. (and that one, oh yeah, that one got me laughing pretty good there)
