As a kid growing up my neighbor had a B model dump truck he used to let me ride around with him. He was busy in there for sure. He taught me alot about working on cars and trucks and 40 years later I'm still turning wrenches.

Sweet looking B. Is that Pennsylvania or New York countryside? Regardless, it looks like a nice place to live and work. Nice homes, and what looks to be sparsely populated. was going to make crack about the size of the load you were hauling, but thought better of it because this is my first comment and I wasn't sure you'd get the humor. I do like Kubby machine though, and I wish I had one.

Stupid question-2 sticks,one transmission?Or is one switching gears in the rear?Love the look of these truck"s.I"m 61 years old,when I was a kid,these were the standard truck you saw on the road.Garbage trucks,firetruck"s,school buses,etc,Obviously,you had to have talent to drive one!
@cjneary57963 жыл бұрын
The macks had a single transmission. This one is a 15 speed, 5 spd main with a 3 spd splitter. Most other trucks at that time that were two stick had a main trans and then an auxiliary box that was separate.

@@cjneary5796 -thanks for the info!-my 1st ride was a 63,283,3 on the tree,chevy imala-1 stick!-and I thought that was cool!

From the back window view it appeared to be the triplex 5 & 3

Triplex 15spd with the 711 engine. We use it once and a while to move equipment

Two transmissions bolted together with a lever for each one. The 4 way auxiliary divides or "splits" each gear in the main 5 speed transmission giving 20 possible combinations. As this is a construction truck it likely has a quadraplex 18 or 20 speed transmission. Every 3rd or 4th shift involved shifting both sticks at essentially the same time. But no clutch pedal once you got it rolling. All moving shifts could be accomplished with the throttle and the gear levers. You would be a cripple if you had to kick the clutch pedal twice for every gear change.
@JRBUISEXCAVATING3 жыл бұрын
All du-plex, tri-plex and quadra-plex transmissions were one transmission. This truck has a tri plex.

Like the sound coming from those stacks classic thermodyne engine
@ernestpassaro96632 жыл бұрын
Nowadays you could get away with pulling that weight with much less gears bigger engines higher torque
