This is a very cool vintage chainsaw. I almost missed out on it, and I'm kicking myself. This saw was a total mess and sat on Craigslist for quite some time, no takers. I finally ran up to get it just before it was heading to the dump, and I'm glad I did. It cleaned up nice. It's in a lot better shape than I thought it would be based on the pictures that were posted.
A very brief history of vintage Remington Chainsaws. The Remington Arms Company acquired Mall Tool Co. in 1956. Mall Tool Co. manufactured chainsaws and many other types of power tools. Remington renamed the company Remington Power Tool Division and continued to manufacture many power tools, including chainsaws. Their chainsaws sold well, but Remington was in dire straits financially in 1969. The Remington power tools division was sold off in parts and production of the Remington chainsaw came to an end in the mid 1970's. New Remington chainsaws are being sold today as part of the MTD Product line of tools and power equipment.
I hope you enjoy the overview of the PL4. I plan on getting it running and in the wood soon. Thanks for watching!
