I love that you didn't put some goofy 20"+ rims on that beauty. Old skool steelies are where it's at with these old muscle machines. That thing looks SINISTER!
@kennethsouthard60422 жыл бұрын
I agree, but I would lose the hubcaps. That would give it a more badass look.
@qua77712 жыл бұрын
As much as I can appreciate the classic look. 14" rims with balloon tires ride like shit compared to new tech. Since the entire suspension was designed around bias ply tires any way, changing them wouldn't help much. It's an old classic that rides like a boat.
@qua77712 жыл бұрын
@@GIwillo Some sizes are getting harder to find. I think 17" is one of them. I do get what your saying though in terms of ride quality. To me, thick side wall tires feel mushy, and dangerous at speed. What if you have to make a defensive maneuver? You need to have a feel for the road. Most cars have large diameter rims today.

@@966impalas9 my comment was in reference to then and now. "Listen" to this video and then listen to the new GM small blocks (I know the 66 was a Big Block). If you're old enough you'll remember the slogan "Is it live, or is it Memorex?" The latest batch of GM small blocks, you could pose a similar question; "Is it Chevy, or is it Ford?" Louis Chevrolet would be spinning in his grave if he had any idea what General Motors was putting a bow tie on! That's why I said, "Back" when Chevrolet was the Heartbeat of America!

These cars sounded like that STOCK. Those big blocks came from the factory ready to rock and roll. And rock and roll they did. They would rock and shake the ground they were rolling over with the sound of all that power. I’m 73 years old, and I remember cars like this. They were big, and looked like an innocuous family car until you gassed on it and smoked the tires for half a block.

For us old people who used to drive vehicles like this, I owned 9 different Impalas over the years, this is powered by a 454 c.i. V-8. Not a 7.4 liter, had never heard that description way back then. Loved my Impalas, great cars.
@ArKritz842 жыл бұрын
454 ci = almost 7.44 liters, so this is a case of potato potato, tomato tomato. By the looks of the surroundings, this car is in western continental Europe, so the metric cylinder volume of an engine is commonly referred to in liters. And we'll have to take their word for it too, since the Impala didn't get a 454 until 1969/1970. So there's probably an aftermarket or remanufactured engine in this car.

Back in the day factory engine was of course 427 oh how sweet
@christownsend76022 жыл бұрын
The point of my comment wasn't about period correctness of available equipment, it was about the fact back when I owned all my Impalas was that we were still using cubic inches to describe our engines in the USA, the liter stuff came much later. Like now I own a Super Duty Ford with a 6.7 liter diesel V-8, back in the day it would have been called a 406, like the hi pro, gas V-8 Ford used to run. Their answer to the Chevy 409. Still like the sound of a nice running V-8, no matter the designation.
