Ive actually been modifiying one I was able to get off ebay a couple months ago. Its missing the windshield and extra tire, but so far the mods are coming out pretty good. I ended up sanding off those headlights in the front, as the real life Chitty has those connected to the front of the chasis/ headlight+license plate bracket (not to the actual bonnet itself as the toy has it), and instead she has some separately fitted headlights I found that were perfect for the scale. At the moment I am painting/ applying the handbrakes that would be found at her right hand side. Anyways, thanks for the review, helped me get the idea to try this project out.

This toy is awesome. Corgi is releasing a new edition of their Chitty model car in December of 2018. I wish someone either back then or now would make a Truly Scrumptious car model, I've always loved her bright yellow-green 1909 Humber 8hp. I want a model of it so badly!

A model kit needs to be made of this with today's sculpting techniques. I had a model of Chitty back in the day but it was broken and lost. Lego now has an Ideas set that someone has submitted and it looks absolutely amazing! I'm hoping it gets 10,000 votes so that it can possibly become an actual set to buy.

Its hard pitching ideas like that to companies now. Marketing heads dont like taking risks and spending money, and an old movie with a small cult following is hard sell, i wouldnt get your hopes up on lego, but a smaller model company might try. They just have to see the demand. Not saying its right, its just a sad reality :(

couldnt help but see the car in the vid was mattel and made in hong knog. there is a vastly superior corgi toys version made in gt britian with incredible details on the vehicle and figures.

was it the exact same as mine? the one i have is in such good condition i think its a reissue of some kind. But all the markings are dated from the 60s. i cant figure it out. Especially the rubber band it came with, it should have deteriorated after 50 years, but it feel brand new!

@@ejyxx5534 we can only speculate but you have to look at from their point of view. If they thought they could sell more by having that feature, they would have put it in. I'm not sure about corki's business model but most companies have "price points". Adding more features raise their factory costs thus raising their price point. If that price point is too high they cost reduce. Its just how they work.

I have a model of this car and want to paint the brown 'wooden' part of the car but what type of brown do you think it is I should get to match original? thanks

I wish I had the model. Can't find it on eBay. Anyway, you will have to do some matching of paint to the movie car in the film. Research pictures of the car and watch the movie, buy brown paints that go with what you are seeing or make your own shades of brown using other colors to change the shade. Have fun with it!
