My 68 had a 400HO, 4 speed. lots of power. The motor powered the car only. No power steering, AC, smog. Best car I ever had. I miss it always.

I almost bought a 68 convertible but chose a 1970 Cougar XR7 instead. $2,600 for the firebird vs. $ 1,500 for the Cougar. Both clean cars, but in retrospect, the Pontiac appreciated faster than the Merc. I couldn't afford both. Cerca 1986. Good time to buy clean muscle cars cheap. I wish I had a crystal 🔮 back then.

Please get rid of that inline gas filter before the carburetor, those can be very prone to leaking and fires. put in a normalone that is not visible with the gas flow.

I love these cars for their era as a 2/3/4 F body owner but at gen 1 I would not want to b the victim of a t-bone. mb

How many T bone collisions have you been in?
@mikebruzzone95702 жыл бұрын
@@bbb462cid No T bones in cars. Boats is a whole other matter. I've been rear ended lost a 92 Z28 Heritage T5 Vert on the back rails behind the cockpit cage bent 45 degrees to left no structure in the back of Van Nuys F-body convertible California Concept modification. It was repairable keeping the salvage ticket but I sold it to a hot rod shop that put a rambler body on it wanting drive train and harnesses. T-bones I've seen many in junk yards foraging for parts having owned five different F bodies; every gen but 1st gen. The rails in the doors of the F body 4th gen cars are superior with raised door height in relation 3rd and 2nd gen. I'd say the 2nd gen is next on the 3rd gen being a lighter overall car You can see how they protect the driver from t-bones in a Vette, widening the rocker panel and raising a steel beam (structural member) not sure what they use today protecting the driver. I've driven a lot of different performance rental cars and they're light and reliance of side air bags I'd rather have the big steel panels in the doors of my 2000 TA.

@@mikebruzzone9570 I have, in a 1970 A-body convertible. Here's a tip- T-bones are rare. Avoid them in every car, not just old ones.

@@bbb462cid absolutely, at least for boats the bow of the t-boner rides up over the shear of the bonee . . . and as long as you don't get hit directly. 1970 J/SJ, feel the weight of that door. mb
