After kung mapanuod ang video na ito I realized that Ms. Philippines delegate Ms. Gloria Diaz really deserves the honor and title of Ms. Universe 1969. Mabilis siya mag isip ng isasagot at direct to the point or straightforward plus the factor that she speaks English language well according to the host. Though their are many beautiful delegates from other 60 countries who is tall and a strong contender, still Ms. Philippines displays elegance of a Filipina character --- Simple yet stunning. Also she has exemplary performance during the interview round of the 15 semifinalists. A smart woman with a sense of humor that captured the crowd's attention as well as the selection committees or judges. And if you are going to evaluate the answers of the 5 finalists during the final question and answer round, only Ms. Gloria Diaz provided a great sensible answer, concise yet commendable answer, the other four finalists do not know what to say or what to answer, they stammer and had a lot of pauses because they didn't really analyzed or understood the final question well. By the way congratulations to all of them.

Miss Philippines has the longest interview. Seemed that Bob Barker enjoy conversing with her that he gave her the longest exposure. I was not surprised at all when the judgest chose her. With her exotic and unique look she really stood tall among the 15 semi-finalists.

No wonder Gloria Diaz won. For a teenage contestant at that time (18 y.o.), she wasn't frazzled and dazzled by the size of the Miss Universe 1969 stage and audience at all. As a matter of fact she displayed awesome wit when she replied to the Top 15 question if she could name her siblings, "in alphabetical order or according to rank?" With 8 sibling names to remember on the spot, I'm sure lesser mortals wouldn't/couldn't but fumble or try to deliver the answer hesitantly. But Gloria Diaz didn't lose a beat nor her innate girly classiness! And she came across on the b&w tv screen as an intriguingly fresh, exotically fragile beauty with playful pluckiness.

There was silence when Gloria introduced herself. But the judges noticed her during the initial interview. Witty at the same time funny and of course there was confidence in her. Hence the top 3 spot, then comes the final Q&A. Draw it from there why she won.

In a TV Patrol interview shortly after the Miss Universe 2010 pageant on 23 August, Díaz commented on Binibining Pilipinas contestant Venus Raj becoming 4th runner-up. She suggested in the interview that perhaps Raj and other Filipinas would benefit from answering pageant questions via the use of an interpreter rather than in English. Díaz further said that: "Because when you think about a Cebuana can hardly speak English and of course Tagalog. Maybe she should answer in Bisaya." Her remark sparked outrage amongst many Cebuanos, who felt that Díaz insulted their English proficiency. Cebuano politicians such as Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Congresswoman Rachel del Mar called on her to apologise.In response to the controversy, Díaz saw no need to apologize and instead clarified her remarks: Let me clarify it once and for all. People should have the right to say or to answer (questions) in whatever language they want to say it in. If they're Cebuanos, they can say it in Cebuano. I did not say that they did not speak English. If you're Ilocano, say it in Ilocano. But if you're Ilocano who speaks good English, say it in English. A few things to mention: -this footage is quite old but still pleasant to watch -a choir consisting of contestants? Awesome! -too many intermission singers. (Lol) -Miss Australia gave a clear definition of what “kinky outfit” meant during the late 1960’s. These days, you don’t wear something kinky in public without parents of children intending murder on you. -for the evening gowns, a lot of them seem to be wearing wedding gowns -Miss Australia is 2nd runner up over Japan? That “I don’t know” answer should be worth a -100 pts -this is the first time that I noticed: Gloria Diaz’s mouth was open when she was announced as winner because she was chuckling loudly. Gloria Maria Aspillera Diaz was born 5 April 1951, better known as Gloria Diaz, is now a Filipino actress, TV host and beauty queen who is the first Filipina to win the Miss Universe crown in 1969 in Miami Beach, Florida. Studying in college at Colegio de Santa Scholastica, Díaz was scouted by a pageant aficionado and was convinced to join the sixth edition of Binibining Pilipinas. Her looks and, more importantly, her wit captivated the audience and she was crowned Binibining Pilipinas - Universe 1969 at 18 years old. The year that final question round changed the entire competition. This single final question round was introduced at 1969 pageant although it was already used at Miss USA prior to that round.

This is the first ever MU I've seen of olden days but man the stage setting is audience oriented, the host is respectful, kind, and well spoken, and the treatment of the soon to-be former MU, sitting in that grand sit is amazing, and the questions are just the right mix, they're unexpected questions like the man in the moon one :D

Hi, I just want to share this :) "God is with you, and He will never leave you because He loves you." I am fortunate to have entered pageants. I always prayed before my competition because I know how powerful prayer is and this experience proves that God is constantly keeping an eye on you. I didn't think I was good enough to participate in the last pageant I entered. Making it to the Top 4 looked impossible to me, but God led the way that night, so I didn't stumble and I made it to the top 4. And now that I'm happy with what I have, I am also a title holder in my 2nd pageant in my school and I feel blessed and appreciative. My current role is to share my experiences of God's existence. Before it's too late, embrace Jesus. I am living proof that having faith is important; all you need to do is keep praying and keeping your faith in God, who can accomplish anything. Tuwang-tuwa talaga ako sa Pasarela ni Ms. Gloria Diaz. Lalo na yung first walk nya as Miss Universe. Para syang naka Rollerblades or naka skateboard.
