I'd never heard of a 300H, ever... however there is an eccentric old man in my neighborhood that still daily drives a slightly beat up '70 Chrysler 300. It's a freaking huge car compared to pretty much anything made today. Seeing it parked next to regular cars is always hilarious. Although this one is not super well cared for they're pretty cool looking cars.

I'm a Mopar guy so this is the coolest full size Mopar of the muscle car era. The 1955 Chrysler 300 was the very first American muscle car. But my absolute favorite 1950's car is the 57-58 Chrysler 300 which came with the 375 horsepower(380 hp in 58)392 Hemi engine with dual 4 barrel carbs. Mopar invented muscle cars in 1955-56(1955 Chrysler 300 and 1956 DeSoto Adventurer, Dodge D-500, and Plymouth Fury)...nearly a full decade before the 64 Pontiac GTO came out. The Exner era performance Mopars from 1955-59 were the fastest and most beautiful and stylish cars on the road at that time

the older guy down the block (he was 18!) who hung out with us in brooklyn in the 60-70s had a buddy who showed up every now and then and had one of these. this guy rolled up on the block a couple of times. he was a short, round guy with a crewcut and wore nothing but white tee shirts with a pack of malboros rolled into a sleeve. he had been to vietnam. i always figured that was where he got the money to buy the car. this guy was a real character but i really remember that car. sweet! thanks for the effort and the sharing. thumbs up.

My dad has a 71 300 factory u code 440 high performance, black interior, and console shifter. All original rust free car from Arizona. Really cool car.

My first car was a 1973 Fury II. Those big cars with all that power felt like they were constantly accelerating. You could let off and hold it at 120mph, then punch it and it just kept going. No wonder so many guys took out the engines and put them in smaller cars.

Great video! Remember renting hurst cars for weekend go race it and return it Monday. Even better than there great performance parts . Most probably don't remember they developed and invented ,The Jaws of Life, and gave away the patent for this device! Saved a lot of lives . Mr George Hurst was a humble and great guy! A guy in my hometown had one . He bought a lot of gas at the station I worked at. To a young teen, it was quite impressive. Wow!

I had the last Vin of this car. I worked in Chrysler engineering and sold it to a friend of Lee Iacocca. I think it was the most expensive Chrysler in 70, @$6,900 bucks. I liked that when the seat was back and the steering wheel was down you couldn't reach the radio so Chrysler put a button on the floor similar to a headlight dimmer so you could change stations when laying back.

My 4th grade teacher drove one of these in 1980. You couldn't miss it by the size and looks of the wing and rear end. Beautiful automobile

With the TNT 440 4 banger option, you had 375 hp 485 Lbs. of torque. It was a sleeper in 1970.

I had one of these for a short time. If you floored it from a stand still, and didn't let off the throttle, it would melt the tires down to the steel wheels.

As a young man I saw one of these in a junkyard in south Plainfield New Jersey. I New it was special when I saw it.

There is one of these exact 300H Hurst addition about a mile down the road from my house! What worries me is that whoever owns it has it outside under a carport in some old apartments. All it would take is some careless renter to catch the old place on fire and they wouldn't even have time to move it out of there before it went up in smoke! And I stopped and checked this car out about five years ago and it only had one dent behind the right front wheel and the rest of the car is in perfect condition! And let me tell you this, until you get right up close to one of these beautiful work of art of a car, you can't appreciate it in full. 😉

Love the look of this car. Growing up in the 70s..lived near school administration building..someone drove one of these..saw it almost everyday for a few years.

I had never really thought of this car as a large-scale Charger, but yeah, you're right! I love all the "fuselage" Mopars of 1969-1973! They all had such a commanding presence! I know you've already done a video on the "fuselage" Plymouths, so it would really be exciting for me if you would do one on the Dodge and Imperial and all the rest of the Chryslers. I've seen quite a few and had the pleasure of being a passenger once. The experience can't be had today being in a huge heavy car car that took off like a rocket. It's like it defies the laws of nature.

I got to work on one of these . A big beautiful car indeed . It had the 440 TNT motor it was claimed to be 375 HP , I;m thinking a bit more . You could actually feel the cam .

Great to see this. I owned the last one made. I sold it by putting a note outside of Mr. IACOCCAs on a bulletin board and got a call within a hour and the guy bought it. I found out he had at least 1 of every year letter car from 55 to 70 the last year. I liked the foot operated radio channel changer.

I still have my 2006 300 purchased new. Best car I ever owned.

We had party's in the cars while we drove back then. You could fit 8 people in them. And if you went to the drive-in, you could pile a bunch more of 'em in the trunk.

AMAZING CAR>>>> My dad had the 1967 New Yorker with the 440 / 4 barrel carb. He sold the car to my brother and one night we had a race with a 1970 Bonneville. Keep in mind with me and my brother and 5 other guys in the car we PINNED the Needle at 120 MPH and blew that Bonneville right off 231 in North Babylon , NY.....will never forget that car and the New Yorker was just as big and Long as The Cry Hurst.

The last VIN was bought my uncle and then I got it. I worked in Chrysler engineering engine lab from 69 on . I sold it to a friend of Lee Iacocca and this guy had atleast 1 of every letter car from 55 to my 1970 car. A bitchin car but this engine description is close to correct. I had lots of fun with this.

Be fun to see a race with one of these versus a 1970 Mercury Marauder x 100,they'd both hit it and the starting line would move backwards a few feet while the cars stayed still.

This would have been a good match for the Mercury Marauder, and Pontiac Bonnevelle 455.

The 70 300H is one of the most beautiful cars on the road . Not sayin is a monster but if you put little lights down both sides , planes would try to land on you thinking you were a aircraft carrier .The one I worked on had the 440 TNT motor 475 HP , had a small cam bump at idle .

True, the muscle cars of today have a ton of options. My 2015 ScatPack Challenger is loaded, Auto dimming rearview mirror, auto wipers, front and side collision detection, 10" touchscreen, Back up cam, Bluetooth, SD Card Reader, power sunroof, power tilt & telescopic heated steering wheel, paddle shifters, power sunroof, both front seats are heated with 6 way power with power adjustments, lumbar support and seat fan. My favorite option is of course the fan under my seat that blows on my nuts and lower back lol..... That leather gets hot in the Texas summer but I love my muscle car 👍

there is one of these that's been sitting in a carport by a townhouse for well over 15 years and it looks flawless. It has never been moved in all those years

AWESOME car!! I had a '72 New Yorker from 1977 - 1982, which was the Grandpa version of the 300.. It was almost the same car except the New Yorker didn't have the quite as much torque power as the 300 ... everything else was virtually the same though.

1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst is more to love.

I enjoy the performance videos a lot but wish you would occasionally showcase more mundane "everyman" cars from yesteryear as well as that is what most of us boomers were able to drive. My first car my Daddy gave me was a 1966 Plymouth Fury II with air, automatic, power steering & brakes, & AM radio and that was all. Had a practical passenger-side floor vent and triangle-shaped vent windows. Had a 2-barrel 318 CID V8. Daddy paid $2800 new for it. It had Chrysler's wonderful "command seating" and the visibility was great. You could see all 4 corners of the car. Fantastic bench seat, great for making out at the drive-in. Exciting? No, but I loved it and wish they still made a car like that, even if it was scaled down a bit. Basic but it spelled freedom for this teenager.

I worked at a Dodge dealer in Westerville, Ohio in 1970. When I road tested a car, my loop passed Vincent Motors, also in Westerville, up the street from us. Vincent had one of these 300 Hursts on his lot. Sticker was over 5 thousand. I loved to stop and drool on it. !

only ever seen a couple of these, one just toolin' along down the hwy, circa mid 90's. wait..yep, that's the only one i've ever seen. gorguus beast! i used to own several C bods..amazing performance cars, mine all had the very same '74 cop 440..couldn't kill the mill, not for lack of trying, but wisc salt ate the cars, over the decades. amazing what we used to daily, even in winter! but..hadta get to work & all that and how can you beat a 440 powered mopar with a thermoquad on top for that? fuel at 85 cents per gallon? :)

Had a 71 Newport 440 4bbl auto in the early 80’s first enlistment in the Navy. That had the same lines as the 300. Was pulled over doing 147 in a 55. The cop wrote it for 71. Thanks AL Hwy Patrol. While on the CB, truckers would call it ‘large car’! Fun times and only 75¢ a gallon for gas!
