🤩 Very cool Bro!! Love the Shelby-style rear lights!! Nice touch!! It takes me back, as I had one in the late '80's... although mine was done up in a beautiful Red-oxide primer, LOL!!! Bought an abandoned project car (from the Dad of the owner who was sick of seeing it rot away in his back yard!!) It had a 351W which someone had built the engine pretty well, w/ a mid range cam in it. Had a nice loping sound to it!! Also had an alum Edelbrock intake, and Holley carb, and a Mallory dual point distrib. /ignition system on it! I also installed a set of "Blackjack" headers (for a Mustang application, as they didn't make a set at that time, for a 351 in a Maverick!) I really got a steal from "Dad", prob made his son sick, knowing I basically bought his entire car full of goodies for $100 bucks!! I also took: The 4 speed trans, the 9" posi-trac rear, (with traction bars), a beefy driveshaft and 4 mag wheels: (Keystone classics... still popular at that time, and looked great!) ALSO: The "Grabber hood w/ factory scoops and the rear deck lid w/ factory spoiler!! 2 Black bucket seats, also! Dad, totally hooked me up!! I told him... "I'm gonna totally strip that car, if you let me!" He said, "Go for it, just leave it up on blocks, cuz when you're done I'm gonna call a wrecker in to winch both of these up and out of here!" (The son also had another 6cyl '70 that he was gonna swap everything over to as the V8 car had a badly rotted frame!) I said Done!! It took me and a few buddies I'd say, about 4 weekends to get her all up and running... What a BEAST that car was!! I NEVER got beat in a street race with that thing!! I was whipping Mustangs, Camaros... even beat a couple of 'vettes!! 😜🤪😝 A buddy had a new Monte Carlo SS (big at the time), who was sooo pissed that his brand-new "factory race car" got whipped by this old primered POS Maverick every time we raced!! LOVED it!!! I loved showing off.. with those traction bars and a clutch, I was able to "hop" or even, crush beer cans placed in front of the front tires! Sooo much fun, but soooo much work! I was constantly having to work on that thing... back yard/shade tree mechanic!! 🤑😝 Finally sold it bc it got to be too much!! I've kicked myself from time to time bc of it!! Nice car, have fun, be safe out there!!

Not an ugly car. It's beautiful as it is. Only thing I would do to it, is change out the tachometer and speedometer. But its amazing regardless.

@@oceanhome2023 yeah and the 302 was packed in super tight. 351 has a higher deck height than the 302 that was offered in the car.

Trim the shock towers or go with the RC Motorsports coil over front suspension, it allows fitment of any Ford engine from 289 - 460. The coil overs take the place of the factory struts and all that cramped shit is out of the engine bay. I have a stroked 390FE in my 70 maverick using the RCM setup

Might be a stupid question but did the gt 500 tail light panel just swap out or did you have to refab it?

Sorry last question how did you manage to fit the headers in. I have a 347 and my headers on the driver side contact the strut tower and makes the whole car vibrate.
@bikerdude73
@bikerdude73 6 жыл бұрын
He used mustang 1965 351w swap headders .And had to cut a lot of strut towers also moved out the upper control arm one half inch per page. And moved parties to the lower contol arm corresponding out to match. Headers had to be reshaped alot! Also cut into torpedo wall, tons of work. But this was extraordinary because he has a 351w which is much wider than a 302. 351w not recommended in maverick!
@burt5182
@burt5182 6 жыл бұрын
I don't know which headers you have installed with your 347, however Hooker 6901s should fit your application unless you have high port heads. 6901s are 1 5/8 diameter and what I run in my `72 Comet with no vibration or shock tower modifications. Fairly easy installation through the bottom of the engine compartment.
