The Volkswagen Beetle-officially the Volkswagen Type 1, informally in German the Käfer (meaning "beetle"), in parts of the English-speaking world the Bug and known by many other nicknames in other languages-is a two-door, rear-engine economy car, intended for five occupants (later, Beetles were restricted to four people in some countries), that was manufactured and marketed by German automaker Volkswagen (VW) from 1938 until 2003.
The need for a people's car (Volkswagen in German, and in the English-speaking world in the early 20th century as "folks' wagon"), its concept and its functional objectives were formulated by the leader of Nazi Germany, Adolf Hitler, who wanted a cheap, simple car to be mass-produced for his country's new road network.

Great job on the restoration.❤ Kind of reminds me of the one I had in the '80. I've forgotten what year it was, but I had to change it from a 6 volt to a 12 volt.

I had a 69 Beatle one summer, flat black with electric blue pin stripe flames lol, my first real mechanic job was helping restore air cooled Volkswagens. First automotive engine I rebuilt was a 1641cc for a friends bus.

I would have to say, that the Beetle Model had been deliberately made to look like the body was very heavily-rusted. A good effect. But we all know that the Die Cast Alloy Body could never degrade in such a way. I had to admire the work involved, in the mixing of a "Rust Compound" and then painting this all over the body - for a better effect. So, hats-off to the pre-restoration work, that not many would notice - had taken place.

I absolutely agree with you! Almost all of these "Restoration" channels do this same stupid trick and think people won't call them on it. But hey, he's got over a million subs so he should keep doing it for the stupid people out there.

In 1976 I had the misfortune of owning (briefly) a 1970 bug (this one full-size). It was a terrible car that gave me nothing but grief. But your finished model is so lovely I almost want that piece of crap back. Well done.

Here's a tip for more coverage using an airbrush, pull the needle back slightly, with the type your using, if you pull it back 2-3mm you will get alot of coverage when spraying, especially if your applying a clear coat after youve sprayed your base coat.
