Great job with beautiful results! I owned a 1971 CL175 when I was in high school. That is a sweet little engine.

First off, thanks so much for documenting this process. I'm currently restoring a 1971 SL350 myself. I've been working on bikes and cars for a long time and I just loved watching your technique. Stand outs for me was the cord you used to hold the timing chain while assembling the top end.. and your wiring harness work was just impeccable (soldering, wrapping and labeling..) Great work habits and attention to detail. Now I've got to go back and watch all of your videos! Also, I always thought the Honda 175's were singles and not twins! Man, what a little jewel of an engine.

Thanks so much for all your kind words, Thomas💪. Comments like yours makes all the hard work seem worth it👍🏻. I have a series I made last year on a K2 SL350, I hope you might find those useful with your own sl350 build. Please subscribe and share the videos, that really helps out the channel. ❤️❤️

Beautiful bro. I started at 10 on a 72 sl70 and over my teens grew into riding a xl350. They were the best bikes I personally ever owned.

Great job! I own a CB175 with about 35k kilometers on the clock and enjoy the little bike so much. It doesn't look as pristine as this bike and I don't dare to open up the motor, as I am not as mechanically skilled as you but enjoyed working on the other parts. Maybe one day I will take care of the motor as well and then your video will be very helpful. Thank you!

I just stumbled across this video and loved it. I have the chance to pick up a fairly nice looking 1970 Honda SL175 with a locked up engine. It looks complete, minus the plastic side covers. The guy is only asking $200, but after seeing the town down engine in this video, I'm not sure I'm up to the task. I also have the chance to pick up a running 1971 350 SL for $1300. It looks to just need cleaned up, painted, side covers, and the stock mufflers. The 350 I know I can handle, but man, $200 for the 175 is hard to pass up. Right now, I'm in the middle of putting a Jeep TJ back together. Thanks for this video. I'll go check out your other videos as well.

Thanks for watching the show! I did a series last year on a full restoration of a 1972 sl350, you might enjoy that as well👍🏻 If it were me, I’d buy the sl175 and the sl350😁. Both are great prices. If you don’t buy the sl175, let me know where to find it and I’ll buy it😁😎🤷🏼

Dave Barry says "A highbrow is someone who can listen to the William Tell Overture and NOT think of The Lone Ranger". (Yeah, ya gotta be really old to appreciate that one.) The Honda 160 / 175 were as I remember most notable for their incredible strength and reliability. Could not kill that engine with an atomic bomb. When we were racing production class in AFM (California) they were fairly good handlers, reasonably quick but never broke down. Nice video by the way.

Thanks for watching the show! 😁 I’d say I’m mid-brow😎 Unfortunately I can’t really pick the music I want, as the KZfaq machine will give my channel a lashing and remove the video if I don’t “follow community guidelines” and use “royalty free music”🙄. As for the sl175, I agree w you about them being a tough motor, they’re like a little Swiss watch Hi Ho Silver!

How is that engine so clean???? I usually work on Jeep 4.0 and 2.5s. That engine looked clean enough to eat off of!

Wow!!! Lyle I just picked up a 71 sl175 just like yours mine's an excellent condition unbelievable same color also but mine doesn't have blinkers did some come without blinkers left and right blinkers it just has a reflector up front on both sides about the size of a silver dollar and in the back there's yellow reflectors on both sides of the tail light but there's no blinker switch just headlight tail light did some come like that from the factory do you know thank you if you can answer this it would be nice for me to know otherwise I'd like to restore it properly it's the only thing it needs your video was awesome thanks I enjoyed it

How much for restoration for the same motorcycle?
@lylesgarageКүн бұрын
Depends on the condition of the bike and availability of parts. Could be as low as $2k or as much as $6k.

10 times easier to lower the bare frame over the engine.
