I remember when the 3 cylinder bikes came out, I just wanted to run screaming "Not 2 or 4 but 3 cylinders the world is ending soon". Well, after a few years, I finally got over it and here we are. I still don't understand how they could have a balanced running condition. Maybe you could speak on this. I can't wait to see your next video on this bike. I want that CB or any K1 750 in my grubby hands but I'm running out of time at 67 years old. Keep up the good work, I love it! Keep on riding my friend. Burning up in the high desert of Arizona, Peace

Thanks for sharing, I love hearing from you guys, and I really appreciate the feedback! The three cylinders are supposed to be slightly better balanced than the vertical twins, but not as smooth as the 4 cylinders. I haven’t done the motor yet, but from what I’ve heard, they fire every 120 degrees of crank rotation as compared to the twin cylinders every 180 degrees. I should be on the motor soon and I’ll give the good info on that episode. I’m currently on summer break w the kids, but should have another video on the gt750 up in a month

Love the attention to detail. Thanks much. This Sl350 has to be the one of the most beautiful Hondas ever built. The Paint is stunning. The high aluminum fenders set it apart. Craftsmanship beyond word. You are a master. Id love to see these reposted at regular speed so we can catch more details.

What state are you doing all your work in? Your truck reminded me of my beloved 72 two tone, blue and white Chevy Pickemup. Now that truck was extraordinary because I traded my forest green National Park Service 4x4 straight across for it to a pro mechanic who had turned that 350 V8 into a monster. She was a sleeper that ate cars for lunch. My favorite memory was taking my older brother Mark for a short ride, I dropped it into second and punched it, I thought his eyes were going to pop out of his head as he screamed. That was around 1977. I love your truck and I drive a Ford pickup now. from Arizona I Tim love the restores you're doing on the classic motorcycles. Trail bikes have always been a passion for me, and the 4 cylinder bikes from the 70's sound like music to my ears. Thank You for the videos!!!

Going this Saturday to look at a barn find, 1973 CB550. Lady says she can't ride anymore. Has 16K on the engine. Pictures show a solid bike, but we will see..... Doesn't matter.... For $500.00 it will be a good project... Had a 1981 CB750C that was cherry.... Was dumb and traded it in for a 1994 CB1000 naked bike....The dealer put the 81 on the showroom floor with the brand new 94's. It sold fast.... my loss....Great videos... How do i tune the carbs. I see there are two adjustments but the book does discribes how to sync them. Thank you
@lylesgarage3 ай бұрын
Kind of tough to explain in a comment. But the pilot screw gets set all the way in till it bottoms out, then back it out 1.25 turns. W carbs off bike is easier to synch. Turn out idle knob all the way to drop slides all the way down. Turn idle knob in til it just starts to lift slide. Then, turn each idle screw one full turn. Those idle screws have to be exactly the same to keep carbs synched. Also, I think the needle was on the middle notch. Adjuster on top of carbs needs to be the same, and throttle cable should have a few millimeters of play. Hope that helps a little
@sher1man883 ай бұрын
@@lylesgarage Thank you. I have seen the CB350 carb videos but the SL350 are different. Is there a cable adjustment on the SL350? Thank you for the explanation. This helps.
@sher1man883 ай бұрын
I am confused by this: Turn idle knob in til it just starts to lift slide.
@lylesgarage3 ай бұрын
Also, make sure when you turn the throttle, that both slides move at the the exact same time, and same amount. The brass adjuster at the top of each carb is where you can make adjustments
@lylesgarage3 ай бұрын
@@sher1man88 sorry, I miss spoke. I was at a basketball game trying to reply. Turn the idle screw all the way out till the slide is at the bottom. Then turn it in till it just starts moving. Once it’s starts to move slide, then turn idle screw in one full rotation. Do the exact same on other side. That should get you in the ball park. When you start the bike, if it needs more or less idle, make sure you turn each carbs idle screw exactly the same amount.

Thanks, man. I’m not 100% certain, but I feel like I only went up one size on the main jet due to running POD filters. It also had the 4 into 1 exhaust w/out a muffler, that probably had more to do w the sound. Recently I did another series on a different cb550, please check that one out too👍🏻

Way back in the day (73ish) I owned a 1970 SL350 in the same color as yours. It had a few differences. It had an electric start, the headlight mount was chrome, the mufflers had a small chrome skid plate mounted to them, and finally the front fender had a silver panted tubular mount on top of the fender. It really was a beautiful bike. A little heavy for full off road work though. I sold it and got a 250 Elsinore, now that was a true off road bike, but I always missed that SL350...

Forgot one thing, Honda has a recall on the gas cap. They replace that push button release with a slotted turn key release. You can use your key or any flat tip screw driver to open the gas cap with. Personally I preferred the push button set up...
