In this video we install the cylinder heads and exhaust system, getting us one step closer to first start up.

Very cool! Thank you for posting. In addition, each cylinder should have two o-rings that go on the cylinder center top and bottom studs. They fit between the top of the cylinder base gasket and the bottom of the cylinder. There's almost certainly a bunch of crap at the engine sump pan. I always remove the pan during at least every other oil change.

I am pretty sure I installed those O-rings. If I did not it has not leaked any. I did purchase a new sump gasket because I thought it was leaking, although I think it was gas leaking and washing the oil off of it. I may go ahead and change the gasket anyway and inspect inside the sump when I re-torque the head bolts.

@@bryansprojects3570 I'm not sure, but I suspect all six o-rings (per side) are to help keep the cylinder head, rocker block, and cylinder lined up. If misaligned, the rockers do not properly interface with the top of the valve stem.

I appreciate the video. What were you putting on the push rods before you dropped them down the hole. Also, do they just slide in and find their home or is it a specific placement?

Without looking back at the video I would guess I was putting assembly lube on the push rod tips. As I recall it was pretty easy to determine if the pushrod was in the lifter, I have found that to be true on about all pushrod engines I have worked on.

Hey great job, I have a 1970 ambassador 750 same everything as yours, but anyway looks like your on top of the build now! Can I ask where you found the rebuild kit an gaskets?

I got all of the parts from either MG Cycle or Harpers Moto Guzzi. I called Deves for the piston rings and was told they did not have them and didn't know when they would. You should check out thisoldtractor.com, there are a lot of resources there.

Hey Bryan , This is very helpful. Question: I noticed you did not have any stud o-rings under the head with the head gasket, only on the top of the head with the valvetrain. Mine has them in both location, top and bottom of head. Have you noticed any issues? I'm not sure mine is correct actually, was done by the previous owner, not original and not by a shop.

I put mine back together the way it came apart and by the information I have downloaded from "This Old Tractor". So far no problems.
