John was my favorite Beatle. I liked Lennon compositions the most.

I got a real kick out of listening to this. I was 18 when this came out and I don't remember it cuz I probably had a few too many drinks or I just haven't heard it at all. But thank you for putting this up I really enjoyed listening to it and I still miss John so much.

How could anyone kill such a gentle soul?!!
@rebeccaanderson991711 ай бұрын
Exactly. But let’s call a spade a spade. Let us say murdered. John was not killed or assassinated. He was murdered. So who’s the killer? Who hired Mark Chapman? or who was the intended target? 🤑

'There's very little Beatle material that wasn't put out......' Hmmmm, I wonder what John would think of all the outakes etc released since the 95' anthology right up to the impending Revolver remix.

All of the Beatles underestimated the lasting importance of their work and its permanent impact on human culture. The rough sketches of songs on anthology, though seemingly of little value to the Beatles, are as important as the rough drafts of poetry by Yeats, Eliot, or Shakespeare for that matter. McCartney is the only one who understood this, maybe too well.

WALLS AND BRIDGES was/is Dr. Winston’s last solid album…
@waynej2608 Жыл бұрын
I'd have to agree, for the most part. It's a solid album and one I still listen too, regularly. I do, however think that he had some decent songs on Double Fantasy. Yoko's offerings, notwithstanding. It sucks that we didn't get any further music from John, clearly. I really love Nobody Told Me, off of Milk and Honey. Even though it wasn't fully produced yet, it showed that he still had it, he still could rock.
@jeffkaufman98758 ай бұрын
@wayne I agree with your basic assessments of DF and MAH: I too love what he did on those last lp’s, whether via the ballads OR the rockers with an ‘80’s edge and feel; that said, for me, WAB gets the edge of my preference for its timeless gravity and beautifully-melancholic emotional tone…
