In 1974 I bought a yellow TS250 just like yours, brand new. It served me well for 30,000 miles. I have had 6 MZ's in my life. I love 'em!

@@duanetrivett750 No, I live in the UK where MZ were very popular back in the 70s. They are now very rare and command a high price when they come up for sale!

i just bought one off of F M place; $1000 all original paint, the pale blue color, no rust and the seat has no rips; it has been sitting for years; stale gas and gummy carb; i had to figure out that it needs a good battery to create spark to start, but no electric starter. threw me for a loop. cant wait to get it ripping. thanks for sharing this one.

I had a powder blue MZ 250 in high school. Gave it to my friend. To my knowledge he still has it.

My dad had one just like the one on video. Still had original tires on it almost like new condition. He sold it back in mid 90's to get me a 80cc mx bike.

As already said, rare piece. Imagine, how limited they were in the GDR and still were competive. MZ invented the expansion chamber. The long exhaust supports the great torque. Changing to a VAPE 12V ignition and adding a BING Carb is changing it to higher level

Had one in the mid 80,s - good for flat out riding all day long (up to 85 mph). Mine had a filler cap with same engraving/ dedication but underneath there was an integral cup with oil mixing levels so you could get the petroil mix accurate. Easy to work on and reliable - sorely missed.

The gas tank is from the smaller model TS150 (!) but that was normal for the export versions for England/USA ect. The normal TS250 has a 17L tank capacity, which means a range of 300-350km was possible. The factory colors were rapeseed yellow, cherry red, sap green and sky blue. For export also black, crystal blue and special requests.

It is original. The small bilded 0-series had this tank. Only 114000 was bild with this tank. 😉

That's true so far, although here in the GDR you had the choice of which tank you wanted, at least for a while until Zschopau realized that 12.5 liters were clearly too small for the 250 engine, and it remained as an export except for remaining stocks but still in the program. Even the 17L isn't that much with a consumption of 5-6L, but apart from vacation trips to the Baltic Sea or Hungary, our radius of action wasn't that big...;)

Handsome 250. Very clean. I have the later 5-speed MZ 301. Another good bike. Do not put any fancy oil into the gearbox or the clutch will slip. Stick to orthodox GL1 gear oil, or 20/50 engine oil.

It's a TS250 Lux version. It has smaller fuel tank, some parts are chromed. I used to owned one of these, but the regular version. I got this from my dad who was the first owner. Great machine. Regards from Poland 🇵🇱

Remember the gear oul is the clutch oil. They both share the same oil. Remember NO additives or fancy oils in there! If you do, the clutch will slip and you will have to pull the clutch and sand the plates. Been there, done that. Warm the motor before working it hard.

what happened to the rear rack, the indicators and the tail light? and by the way, as an experienced MZ rider you get used to shut the tank valve closed after dismount automatically, in order to avoid flooding the carburetor…. 😊

Bikers here in Denmark regard the MZ a joke. Only one word can describe these bikers: Snobs. It's a bike, and it's good. Period.

Superior socialist technology. Three words you're not allowed to say together nowadays. Also, motorcycling is dangerous enough as it is. if you need to ride your bike at over 60 MPH, you're asking to be peeled from the pavement.
