These Reds were the BEST all-time. We had Pete, Tony, Joe, Johnny, Dave, George, Cesar, and Ken Sr. We also had The Main Spark, as well as Marty and Joe. Could anyone do any better? Rest in Peace Joe Nuxhall, Joe Morgan, and Sparky Anderson. We miss you.

Sorry Lloyd .... the 1961 New York YANKEES : C. Yogi Berra, 1B. Moose Skowron, 2B. BOBBY Richardson, SS. Tony Kubek, 3B. Clete Boyer, LF. Hector Lopez, CF. MICKEY MANTLE, RF. ROGER MARIS. ⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️ The Reds were the 3rd best. The 1927 "Murderers Row" NY YANKEES led by Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig , Tony Lazzeri was better too.

@@LordofDublin4 Actually, the 1961 had THREE catchers that hit 20 HRs. Yogi, Elston Howard, who was standout defensively, and Johnny Blanchard. Sometimes Yogi and Blanchard played the OF just to get their bats in the line-up. That team was beastly.

Blessed to be a kid who grew up in Tampa. Able to lay on top of the dugout and talk with each if these guys as they stood in the on deck circle during Spring training. And in the age of no inter league play, I could go speak with Sandy Koufax or Tom Seaver or Carl Yastremski, all at Al Lopez Field. So many MLB teams did Spring training within an hour's drive. Unforgettable. Dad often took the whole family to watch the Reds. Perfect family memories.

As a Dodgers fan, I had the pleasure of watching the "Big Red Machine" at Dodger Stadium from '74 to '77. I really admired and respected that truly great team, and the rivalry the Dodgers and Reds had during those years was second to none. My favorite memory was when my dad took me to back to back games against the Reds for my birthday in '76. I can still remember the final scores of those games.

What an amazing lineup this team had! I got the impression that Pete Rose got the loudest ovation. To those who may not know, the great eight consisted of Cesar Geronimo, Ken Griffey, George Foster, Tony Perez, Davey Concepcion, Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, and Joe Morgan. Arguably the second-most formidable lineup after the '27 Yankees. Thanks for posting.

There were four clubs all capable of having sports dynasties if not for cancelling each other out in that era and by great coincidence they were divided by the four baseball divisions. NL east Pirates, NL west Reds, AL east Orioles and AL west A's. Lots of allstars and some hall of famers just from those four teams. It was a great time to be a baseball fan where the all star game was a major viewing event with names like Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Tom Seaver, Bob Gibson, Don Drysdale as well as the stars from those four teams like Clemente, Stargell, Doc Ellis, Al Oliver, Pete Rose, Joe Morgan, Johnny Bench, Tony Perez, Jim Palmer, Frank Robinson, Brooks Robinson, Reggie Jackson, Vida Blue and more. I just don't find today's players as interesting and wonder which ones are cheating with ped's to pad their stats.

Isn't Rose out here for batting out of order? He was announced before Morgan. Also, I'm pretty sure this Rose-Morgan-Bench-Perez ordering wasn't as common as the Rose-Griffey-Morgan-Perez configuration. Griffey's speed and contact fit perfectly in the 2 spot.
