McAdoo was a All time great he was unstoppable in his prime

The Braves were my favorite team back then because of McAdoo. I am a huge UNC fan and loved him and the Braves colors were very similar to the Tar Heels as an added bonus to me as a young kid back then.

I was at this game... So exciting to be in the playoffs for the first time in five long years, so disappointing to lose this heartbreaker...

Thanks for posting this vid. These were definitely two fun teams to watch back in the day. The Braves with leading scorer McAdoo, the ultra-fast Randy Smith (one of the very few guards who would dunk), and fancy passer Ernie D. And the 76ers with ABA standout McGinnis, teenager Dawkins, Lloyd (soon-to-be World B.) Free, and other very good offensive players (Collins). And let's not forget JellyBean Bryant, Kobe's father. I've always liked Doug Collins because of his performance in the 1972 Olympics, which included the first loss ever by a USA team and that loss was very controversial. But Collins played well. Only a few years earlier, the 76ers set the NBA record for most losses in a season, so they rebuilt quickly. Carter was on that 1972-73 team that won only 9 games.. Interesting to see that the Braves had the two NBA bald player on their team (Weiss and Adams). McAdoo and Smith both played 52 minutes in this O/T 53-min game. You don't see that anymore.

Safe to say that many of us here watching, or having watched already, are not in our 20s. The 76ers didn’t get a championship until they got rid of some of their great scorers and forge a balanced and defensive minded team. Moses, Anthony Toney, Mo Cheeks, Bobby Jones etc.

Buffalo Braves were a Fun team to Watch back in the 70s. The Fans in Buffalo really Supported that team.

I just did an online quiz that asked to name the leading scorer for every NBA franchise. I got stumped by the one for the LA Clippers. Thought it might be Elton Brand or Blake Griffin. It turns out the answer was the great Randy Smith. Yes, the Buffalo Braves became the San Deigo Clippers, and then they moved to LA.

That was a tough call on Clyde Lee at 1:14:06, which sent the game into O/T. Looks like he was just going up for a rebound.

Fred Carter was really good. He was tough to handle for the Knicks during those earlier years between New York and the Bullets with Earl the Pearl and Carter.

Looking back at this game 45 years later, what was going on there on the court was appalling. From the get-go, the refs lost control and were part of the problem with lots of their calls. Refs should be invisible, yet they were acting like they were part of the entertainment. Considering the time period and the locale, I really have to wonder if organized crime influenced this game.
