In Brazil the first F250 model (1999) has a Cummins 4 BTA with ZF S5-420 and Dana 70...a great workhorse! It was replaced by MWM Sprint (6 cylinders) but heavy duty trucks used this engine until 2011. Very nice choice 👏👏👏

I like how you tucked the reverse/back up lights under the bumper on either side of the rear hitch!!!

That’s how to build a truck, use what you have around and adapt, built not bought :)

Were did you get the bell housing to match it to the zf5 bc I am working on a similar project just a different body and will be using a zf5 also
anyway I can get you to send pics of how you mounted the body to the frame in the process of putting my 78 on an 01 dodge frame.

I'm not certain but I THINK you need a bigger air filter lol
@RustyJunkExhibition5 жыл бұрын
This engine needs to breathe. It moves a lot of air. I actually have a bigger filter on it now. The filter in this video flowed 425 cfm. The new setup flows 600 cfm. Now it sees more boost on the top end. Amazing a 3.9 can consume so much oxygen.

Did you make your intercooler pipes? or have someone make them?

Have you done much towing with it? If so, how'd it fare?
@RustyJunkExhibition5 жыл бұрын
It's no 12 valve. I've done a bunch of hauling vehicles and it does well.

About how much did the swap cost?
@RustyJunkExhibition5 жыл бұрын
It's hard to answer this question. This project was a complete custom ground up build, not a swap. I had about $10K in parts this truck to get it on the road. That was the complete build including the purchase of the body, chassis, and drivetrain. I have put more money into the truck since with repairs and upgrades. Everything on the truck is basically done with the chassis, drivetrain, and interior. Body work is next. I can say that I expect to have about $20K into the truck when all is said and done. That is me doing all the work. If I were to pay a shop to build this truck, I wouldn't be able to afford it. I also bought the first 4BT really cheap before the craze started. I've since used that engine as a core, but now you can't even buy a clapped out 4BT without spending big money.

Wish I new how to do swaps like this. How did you acquire the knowledge to do such a swap?
@RustyJunkExhibition4 жыл бұрын
By doing it. Sounds stupid, but it's true. I've made many mistakes building this truck and learned from them.
