His and Hers Garage - Transmission Nose Cone issues in our 1977 Volkswagen Bay Window Bus. See what we did to repair the linkage and see the engine and 002 transmission removal. Issues were found in the nose cone with the hockey stick mechanism. Find out how to repair and install new bushings in the nose cone on a VW transporter bus.

What a beautiful family ! Working together to fix their bus , I have two of them myself , I know how often they brake , & you have to fix them yourself , especially these days , mechanics do not care how simple the old VW Bus is , they will find some way to brake your bank !

What was the part number for the bushings? Or where did you get them, by bus is a 77 all the bushings i find are for 75 and earlier

I need the nose cone bushungs, where did you get yours? And what search words should i use? Im havin trouble finding those parts, thanks

So it looks like you were happy with the results. How was the play/slop in the shifter after replacing all the bushings?

It was fantastic! Tight, no play and the crazy rattling in the linkage at speed was gone! It shifts very nicely now. I highly recommend it - even if it is a bit of a pain!

For get the music and put down what tools were used .

I'm not sure what music you mean but I guess I should have listed the tools needed for the job. I will remember next time. I do not remember anymore. Not sure if the Bentley manual tells that or not. I didnt use any special tools other than the press that I made. You should be able to size up the bolts. Likely 10mm on the nosecone.
