Good old days. My dad in early 80s had bought us a Sanyo double cassette player with high speed recording function. AM FM with detachable speakers. Thing is we use record songs during old movie telecast n English songs that used to come on weekend nights. TDK cassettes... O myyy it was fun. Now technology has removed the essences of owning something.

Our first TV was bush which had only 12 channels without remote control and on every Sunday night the zee horror show used to telecast and at that time I'd be so scared that I didn't have the guts to change the channel. The reminiscences are blissful ❤️❤️❤️

Cyrus Loves India I guess DD was the only channel. I want to add a little bit more, our neighbors used to come by and would watch each and every serial, the whole house used to transform into a mini theatre. Those were some best memories which nowadays is a rarity. Thanks for the reply

A B yes true. Actually the main Doordarshan channel was channel one and then in early 80's I guess DD 2 was introduced which came only in the evenings. We had to modify our TV so that the other channel could be accommodated. Our first colour TV came in 1991 when I was abt 11. Remember those antennas which had to be continually shifted to get a better reception.Yes really enjoyable days. Free from the internet WhatsApp Facebook period of today. Kids were really rough and tough then.....

Cyrus Loves India yes I remember those antennas ours was a big round one which was quite heavy luckily it didn't fell on anyone. Nostalgia! Thanks to my father, we had a Bush Baron at home. I think it was a later model with a lit-up analog dashboard... and the needle danced along with the sound output... it was beautiful. That was when I was in single-digit years. I then went on to become an advertising professional. Whether it’s cassette players or TV Ads, they don’t make them like that any more.

Do you know why because Chinese used their Asian mind to do the business. They didn't do it for money they just branded themselves by spreading the name of Made in China. Therefore there's an old say :- Roses are Red Violets are Blue No matter whatever you do There's always an Asian who can do the same thing better than you.

Bush is a British brand but it's stuff was made in India. We need more manufacturing in India. Electronics, clothes, furniture, accessories, we need to make everything now here because the infrastructure and more importantly the knowledge and skills are widely available in India in mass numbers. It can be the new manufacturing king in Asia and in the world.

I used to live opposite Murphy factory in Thane. Bush, Murphy, Philips radios...We had a valve radio 2 band Comer. In a wooden box. It required about 5m long net antenna to catch signals. The magic eye or tuning indicator was green blinking like the eyes of a cat about to go to sleep. When it was completely non functional, I still used the box and speakers. I fitted the much smaller transistor circuitry inside it! I was a teen then. I was crazy about circuits then. I assembled many 2 or 3 band radios called Super hetradyne receivers. Dismantled and made intercoms, etc. I assembled Jetking radio, a small one then, but powerful. I had a headphone with two big coils and a metal disc on it, which made sound.

Made In India was so strong even in that era but after globalisation and world trade agreements came into light we lost our unique Identity. World ran so fast we were easy to fool by our wants that we forgot how Chinese companies entered our homes and their economic growth surged at blazing fast speed leaving us far behind. I Hope The make in India initiatives these days are taken seriously and our people understand the importance of domestically manufactured products.

Guys... I went in search of a good cutting plier, most of them were Chinese. Finally got an Indian made - taparia...believe me it's the best available in the market. But pushed back by low quality Chinese maal. Plz look for ont taparia hardware tools, purely made in bharat!! Fantastic quality.

Nice to see a made in India advertisement. Where are these once top selling brands like Bush , HMT, Videocon, Onida, BPL, Dyanora, Keltron, etc . Some have totally extinct due to price competition from China .

I wonder what happened.. things were of so high quality.. prime example in the HM Ambassador.. you felt like driving a solid tank.. It still is present in many household in WB and also used as taxis.. but unfortunately thier quality also deteriorated before winding up ultimately.
