This is my favourite monologue ever. I actually performed his monologue in my grade 10 performing arts class and got an A+ for it... it was a Catholic high school, everyone called me Toby after that for the rest of high school. 😆

This bit is priceless. I love it when he addresses "The French" and "lawyers" and I am a retired lawyer and have French genes on one side of my family. Using the name "Toby" is hilarious. Atkinson is one of the best comedic actors and overall funny person ever.

About thirty years ago, we had a cassette tape with the original version. If ever we needed cheering up, it went into the cassette deck and we'd be better before long. The first time we heard it, the old man lost it on "the Jews were right" as his (sadly now late) father was Jewish, but an atheist. We couldn't work out where he'd end up!

That knock-knock joke at the end got me good XD P.S: It's unfortunate that the harsh lighting on Atkinson's face only makes me think about how much he's aged.

It's unfortunate that the natural passing of time is something you find to be negative.

@@pelmen47 That's a nice retort, but it's not unnatural to observe how much a person has aged over time and feel regret due to the thought that they will eventually pass from this world.

@@pelmen47 It's not that, it's the if you see Atkinson deliver it for the first time, it's really something; just perfect delivery. I felt it too but it's a bit sad to see that he's getting older, losing a bit of his energy. Something we all are fated to

Personally I think he ages really well. It's as if you can see wisdom exuding from his person.
