Here's my dad, Kevin Clarke, in a schlitz commercial from 1978. He's the one shaking the water out of his hair

My dad drank an ocean of Schlitz. I used to run to the fridge for him a lot back in the 70's. That's the closest I ever came to going for the gusto.

Schlitz has re-introduced the classic 60's formula - much, much better than the stuff from the 80's-90's!!

If my dad would have been in this commercial you would have seen him by the camp fire with a blanket wrapped around him complaining he was cold. plus there would have been a big cooler beside him full of the cheapest beer he could find. He quit drinking years ago, but when he did drink, he always drank the cheapest. His motto was "Fear No Beer!" I asked him one time "Dad, why do you always drink cheap beer?" and he said "Cheap" rofl
@mechcavandy9867 жыл бұрын
DoubleVisionandco my mom drank an ocean of Schlitz. When they quit selling it, she'd drink Old Milwaukee or Milwaukee's Best. She too drank it because it was cheap. She had graduated to Kentucky Tavern when she died at 85.

If you have ever tasted a beer called 'Regal Select'... then you know! Oh God... Seattle... At least Ranier Beer was decent!
@trainsplanesmore3 жыл бұрын
When you realize you bought this beer instead of a decent one, you say, "Oh, Schlitz!"

Unfortunately, that was right about the time when they reformulated Schlitz into something terrible. I was just a kid then, and my dad drank Schlitz as his beer of choice until they changed the formula. For the rest of his life, he called it "Schitz."

They fixed it after those days, people just never went back. I'd say it's pretty good these days but I stick with my pabst
@derkommissar19179 жыл бұрын
San94Andreas They brought back the real formula about six years ago. I remember reading an article about it. It had been lost, and they had to track down a guy who worked in the brewery back when the real Schlitz was still made. He remembered how it was made, and they were able to revive the original Schlitz. But they'll have to do a lot of work to get people to come back to it.
@inkey29 жыл бұрын
The new Schlitz is damn good (new as in the revived original formula). A lot more hoppy than PBR & Miller. More like an ale than a beer. They reall should advertise it more

+derkommissar1917 Wow. What color is that dood's 1000hp Vette? I know he bought one after doing them a solid like that.
@packerhawk245 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they relaunched it but it was in 2008-9 in the teeth of the recession and kind of half-assed. It quickly disappeared here in Toledo and I think now it's damn near impossible to find anywhere outside of Milwaukee and Chicago. Didn't even see it in stores in Green Bay when I was there for a Packers game. Shame, it tastes really good now. Enjoy it where and when you can.

Something about FCC prohibits drinking alochol in advertisements. Makes sense to me when you see "wholesome" TV shows like Bewitched drinking Martinis at the office.

This commercial is an unintentional metaphor for the dump you will take after a night of drinking Schlitz.

the NEW SHLITZ is the pre-1970 formula and it tastes very good. Actually nothing like Bud, PBR or Miller...it's almost an ale flavor. What happened was the original formula was tampered with when the owners family took over the company many years ago. They used a cheaper method and ingredients.....that's when Shlitz...a beer that was a bigger seller than Bud started to hit the skids. It tasted awful. The new SHLITZ (the original recipe)is quite good...in fact I am drinking one now
@CapNKirk8135 жыл бұрын

I too am drinking a Schlitz as I watch this badass 70's commercial. These were men's men that lived life and drank Schlitz. It's no coincidence that beards came back in style when Schlitz changed it's recipe back to the original one. Fuck cell phones and facebook. Grow your beard, go whitewater rafting and enjoy a cold Schlitz!

Forget that! Schlitz blows away Bud in every way besides the Clydesdales and that is all Budweiser has going for them! Years ago, Bud was a great beer, but they have watered it down and changed it so much throughout the years that it is canoe beer crap, watered down fizz-water garbage!
