Events of 1979 in Los Angeles in chronological order with pictures, videos of interviews, and newspaper articles. Andre Jones, possibly the first gang member killed in South LA in 1979 was seemingly the beginning of a domino affect that seen the Crips target other Crips more consistently and more violently than they did most Blood gangs.

This was incredible!! I love how you Kev Mac make your videos being none bias and telling the history how it actually went. Not trying to discredit our Latino brothers, but I see a lot of comments on these type videos where the Chicano brothers don’t like giving credit to the African American gangs for being a major influence in Los Angeles gang culture which at times can be confusing to some of us out of towners who just wanna know the history. This was great brother, keep up the good work.

Watched it twice already, so much information packed in here, I wholeheartedly agree with Monster's commentary on the power of the gun and the allure of outlaw culture, America loves its violence, and Hollywood interpreted street gang culture mostly wrong, and the art appeared to imitate real life, but actually perverted it, and added fuel to the fire, KMV I now really see what you said in the early development of this channel, "So goes LA, so goes the nation"...I really get it now

I remember all that I was 9 years old in the year of 79 and I could remember all that as a kid living on 60th street and going to Hyde park Elm. I remember this girl talking about how a kid name Tyron had been kill and how her mom knew his brother Big Rick. Times were different and real gangbangin was Omnipresent. Even as a kid at 9 years old you had to be tough because 9 times out of 10 when you hung outside on your bike you encounter Gangbangers not gangmembers, and you had to act a certain way around them or you would be a victim by the fist. I remember Peddie Wack,Stone, Baby Face, and Moster kody and his brother Lil Monster and how they use to move, shaping us 80s teens that came up in the crack 80s era....good looking on this video this brought back memories...
