Good info and video, Colt. I like that you revived your dad's T/A and drive it. I had a '78 Firebird with the 455. A friend who was a mechanical genius built the motor and was anything but stock. Car was stupid fast and I got into enough trouble to have to relocate to a new town 100 miles away. I traded it for a 80 GMC pickup and heard the new owner was getting pulled over almost weekly for while. LOL!

I had a 79 Turbo 4.9. Adjusted the turbo waste gate to increase turbo pressure from 9.5 psi to 12 psi. The 4.9 was a 301 ci Pontiac motor.

i have a 79 T/A also it was a 403 car but i put a 400 pontiac in it from a 70 GTO, i put a 77 front nose on because the 79 nose was in terrible shape, your trans am has the deluxe interior like mine does a few ways to tell is the handle on the dash above the glove box, rear arm rest ash trays, the pattern on the seats, and the door panels mine has the cloth deluxe seats instead, i want to get them redone to look like yours, but what's weird about my car is i dont have the handle on the dash the bird on the hood, the rear defroster, the power windows were all options no matter what interior or package it was ordered with the firebird emblems on the door panels are there to cover the hole for the manual window cranks, power window cars only

wow that owner of that truck ( at 25 secs) must take very GOOD care of it to still look VERY NICE from it looking like its from the mid 90s ? ( i wonder how many miles it has ?)
