#1980Datsun200SX Junkyard Find. Not sure if this one qualifies as a #cuttingroomfloor or unsubscribe special. Maybe both 😄. Anyhow this 80 Datsun hit the yard recently and I decided to check it out. So if you're into #vintagedatsun then you may like it.

Whoa Nelley, 200SX and it's a wreck. This is a "Z20E" 2.0L four cylinder engine with EFI, likely a Bosch design licensed to JECS as many of Nissan's systems were at the time. 1980 to 1983 were all the same basic body style. We got the VIN, we win: PS110 I believe for US spec/LHD Nissan 200SX and the rest is the production sequence. VIN numbers would use a standard formal starting with the 1981 model year and this is the same system that we use today. They were assembled at Kanda, Fukuoka at the Nissan Shatai Plant. Earl Hughes Datsun was known to do some hot rodding and experimenting back in the day. I believe it was also known as Hughes-Blake Datsun at one time and was located at 2830 White Settlement Rd Fort Worth, TX 76107. As others have said, this appears to be the "SL" model with two tone paint. SL I believe stood for "Sport-Luxury". Should be code 505 Thunder Black and code 663 Diamond Mist exterior two-tone paint. Whoa Nelley, 200SX and it's a mess. 2.0 and gotta go. Sold new by Earl, this one is no pearl. In rust we do not trust. Going to be flat and that's that. Malaise era from overseas, watch that hitch or you'll crack your knees. Z20E and it's over for thee. Going to get squished and no one is really too pissed.

My mom bought one of these in 1980 in Dallas - I bought it from her and drove it through college and after. Great car - I definitely prefer the coupe to the hatchback. Mine had the wire wheels and just looked great - I loved that car! Thanks for sharing this!

1980 200 SX with the SL pkg.Nice looker back in the day.That was the 1st year for the NAPS-Z 2.0 liter 4cyl.2 plugs for each cylinder.100 horse if memory serves me.My Dad wanted one of these bad when they came out but was just 2 small for him. I almost grabbed an '81 back in 1986 but thought $5000 for an 80000 mile example was too much so back to an EXP again. Very few left.Probably not many replacement parts around either.Nice find.Thanks for the memories

I'm pretty sure you can still get a decent amount through Nissan, but you're going to pay if you want the oddball stuff. Mechanical stuff should be pretty easy to come by. Yes, Z20E engine, yes around 100 HP (It actually said it on the firewall plate).

@@emeyer6963 Maybe it came from Biener Nissan in Great Neck, LOL. I believe my friend worked for Biener Audi for a time. My friend lived in Port Washington and is an excellent mechanic, we've been friends for over 20 years and we worked together for about seven years. He gave me a bunch of Snap On stuff while we worked together and I helped him get some parts for some of his projects, including some NOS carburetor parts for his friend's all original 1970 Chevelle SS 396. The car was mint, original patina under the hood with like 17k original miles. His friend's family sold it a few years back. The car was a showpiece of originality. One family owned up until a few years ago, passed from father to son. It was a beauty.

@@googleusergp Biener still around.I looked at an A4 back in 2019 when I was looking for a new set of wheels.Never was into the Chevelle's much.Dug the F bodies from the mid 70's but they were all rust buckets by the time I was looking for my 1st car back in 1984.Now that the rusty ones have been cleaned up the prices are getting stupid on them. Before Covid I was starting to zero in on the Cr4 Corvette but now they are getting pricey.Maybe next year when Mecum comes down here to Florida I will spot something realistic.Your buddy at Curious Cars has had some cool finds lately.A mid 70's Monte Carlo and Cutlass Supreme and a sharp '86 Town Car Cartier with 20000 miles.All sold quickly

I never liked these cars but I tend to appreciate them more now that they're so scarce. That hitch is probably flip material. If you have one of these and you want to tow where are you going to find one? I had a similar one for Corvette and sold it fairly easy. I can't imagine anyone towing anything with a second gen 'vette.

I had this car, but it was a bit earlier model, because it was Datsun then. It looked just like this one, but I had a pop up sunroof. It would have *looked* perfect, but my insurance company totalled it because the frame was bent after a deer ran in front of me and I ended up into the embankment. Everything looked perfect on the outside, though! I loved that car, and I would love to find one that could be restored...someday. I haven't seen one on the road in at least 25 years.

Not into your channel anymore. All you do is walk around a junkyard and show cars that you won't buy . What's the reason?
@ClassicRideSociety
@ClassicRideSociety 2 жыл бұрын
There is no reason to it. I'm just some dude that enjoys roaming the wrecking yards. I see something interesting, I get the video. Upload it KZfaq. Some people enjoy the videos. I make some KZfaq chump change. It's kind of a win win situation. But I understand stand its not for a lot of people. That's why the channel ain't that big. ✌
