I traded a buddy for his '83 440 and I can't find many vids of people working on theirs so thank you for posting this! Sidebar: I've also got a '73 CB450 that required some intensive tank cleaning on the inside due to some serious rust that resulted from it sitting for 18 years in a barn with fuel in the tank. No idea what those people used on the tank, but I found a tank cleaning kit (can't remember the brand, but it was one of the popular ones) that worked like a charm. It did discolor the asphalt where I cleaned the tank out, but no issues with the finish. My best guess is they probably dumped a bunch of HCl into the tank and let it slosh out.

Can you do a 45 bend between the manifold and carb to move it? Just a layman's perspective.
@LukeHague5 жыл бұрын
I might be able to do that, as long as the carburetor ends up level it should work. I will check it out, thanks!

Where did you find the 2 into one intake? I cant find it on any forum
@LukeHague5 жыл бұрын
Well, I had to do some digging around, looks like the kz400.com forum is no longer available. The person selling them had a website 11thhourindustries.com, which also seems to be something else.... I did find the person's Facebook page though: facebook.com/11thHourIndustries/

Will the 440 engine fit in a 305csr
@LukeHague5 жыл бұрын
I'm not 100% certain. But looking at the 305 CSR, the frame looks quite similar. If you had the 440 right there, you should be able to measure the motor mounts to see if they are in the same locations.

Is $1500 for an 83 with 16000kms a bad deal, it's not mint but it's in pretty nice shape?, just wondering, you don't see them much at all anymore.
@LukeHague5 жыл бұрын
That's a tough call... My ride on this bike was very brief before I discovered the carburetor issue. My trade equivalent to get this bike was probably about $600. If the one you're looking at runs well and is road worthy, I would think $1,000 to $1,200 would be reasonable. kz400.com has a ton of info about this family of motorcycles and their forums are awesome, might be worth asking around there as well.
