I saw this show in Atlanta in 1980. I was 15 years old. I had a chance to go backstage and meet him, and he was the kindest, sweetest, funniest guy. He was like a big kid with a bunch of cool toys that he wanted to share with everybody. I'll never forget his genuine warmth and thoughtfulness.

This is the same venue Elvis played in for his 1970s shows. I saw Liberace several times when he was on tour. He truly was Mr. Showmanship. Always put on a great show. His last years were not great personally, but he gave us a great musical legacy.

The sad fact is that while Walter / Lee was a VERY successful musician and performer (I've played keyboards for 50 years), a d he had a wonderful, happy stage appearance, BUT, unfortunately, he was a sex addition to that did NOT have a happy personal life. It's sad that a lot of prodigies have wonderful professional lives, but their personal lives were in shambles. Before I'm flamed from every angle, I've been a massive fan of Władziu Valentino Liberace since I was old enough to know who he was, and, for *decades*, I've successfully incorporated many of his playing styles and techniques into many other genres of music, and / or / but, it was tragic that, as is so very common, Lee's personal life didn't have the illustrious silver lining that his professional life did.😢😢 Jo Stafford Jo Elizabeth Stafford

Liberace’s private life was just that, and even though he was never public about it, it really wasn’t a Secret that he was gay. But I think that most of his fans just enjoyed his music And didn’t care about what he did in his private life.

To this point a solo piano player could never be expected to host a show in Las Vegas. He added glamour and glitz to make it truly a magnificent show. Imagine him going onstage without those elements and playing classical music. Snooze fest. What I always found Iinteresting is how Liberace always denied he was gay (especially when he had to after suing The Daily Mirror and winning a libel case when they suggested he was gay) yet he camped it up so much with the way he spoke, acted, and pranced in those crazy outfits. Almost like he was playing with us. As a young boy and later as a man, it was always this mixed bag of being amazed at his piano abilities and appreciating that yet keeping our feelings not known of our appreciation of him without being accused of being gay. Times have changed!!

As a child watching, Liberace he was larger than life. I recall his scandal in the UK, performances in Weston Super mare when I still lived there. Years later in America I was able to see his homes and museum. It's hard to relate to the fact he lived and passed so many years ago. knowing you survived him and nostalgically Look back at his fame and fortune accumulated in his 67 years.
