Lots of future NBA players and hall of Famers, this game was really huge and hyped up, I also enjoyed watching Houston cougars back then they never won but were fun to watch

Great matchup. Back when many of all time greats played four years.

How old are you? James Worthy left after 81-82. Ralph Sampson would leave after the year of 82-83 after they lost to N.C. State in the Elite 8.

The play by play announcer is Skip Carey, His father was a legendary baseball announcer for the Chicago Cubs and he would later go on to have a big career in announcing MLB games as well, this is very early in his career.

I remember this game was highly anticipated but was really a snoozefest on the court. Georgetown was highly overrated. This was easily the worst team of the Ewing era. They lost quite a bit from the previous year and were very young. I thought UVA was going to go undefeated that year.
@tarheelk1969Ай бұрын
No way, you could honestly think that UVA was going to go undefeated......?! Remember they played in the BEST Conference of All Time. The ACC. They couldn't even handle N.C. State in the Elite 8.

@tarheelk1969 I am a Tar Heel fan. It took every bit of Wood, Worthy, Perkins, Jordan combined to beat UVA in 81 and 82. In 81I think UVA only lost 1 regular season game all year before losing to Maryland in ACC tournament and then to UNC in the Final Four. In 82 they lost 4 games total, including 2 squeakers to UNC. So yes minus a James Worthy at UNC I really thought UVA was going to go undefeated in 83. Still can't believe we swept them that year without Worthy.
