I don't think she had "charisma," but she did have a strong, quiet, powerful energy about her that would have made her an excellent ambassador for world peace. She knew how to reach into people's hearts.

I'm sure in the beginning it was stressful to do public speaking. I experienced fear when I delivered my first speech and my mind went blank and I read my speech similar to what Diana did. Note: she was reading her speech. Her secretary probably prepared the speech for her. She did OK 👍.

Britt Pappas, Stop treating a 23 year old woman as if she was a n infant. This is the daughter of an Earl, who has been to a top school (where they taught elocution), attended a Finishing School in Switzerland, had a flat in a highly fashionable part of London, and who has been married to a Prince for at least 18 months. This is a young woman who has already heard dozens of speeches. She has had 18 months (at least) of solid training in how the Royal Family do it. So what does she do? She reads a speech that has been written for her, with as much competence as a little girl of about seven or eight, three words at a time.... and getting several of the words wrong, because she has not taken the trouble to find out how to say them. This young woman is not competent enough to get a job as a receptionist. She is not competent to work at a Greggs Bakery. You have no understanding of Diana whatsoever. She was charming.... but she was INCREDIBLY self-centred, attention-seeking, trying to steal the loyalty of the Queen's people. She was jealous of everyone, and very spiteful in the things she said. She would have HATED Catherine. If you do not believe me, just Google Diana's face and LOOK at her expressions.

They are the videos of Diana in action- the five hours of recordings of her talking, the Bashir interview, and all the countless hours of video, both professionbal and amateur that show her in a great variety of situations. We know Diana is a spiteful person because we can hear her saying making demeaning comments, habitually. We know she is a spiteful person because we can see her doing spiteful and embarrassing things to Charles in public, and also see her belittling him by acting bored, and rolling her eyes when he makes speeches. Not once, but on multiple occasion. With regards to the images of Diana, .looking like a scheming bitch, .... this is not just a few images among many in which she generally looks pleasant. It is the opposite. Diana smiles sweetly for formal photos. But in most informal photos, she has a surly, watchful, sneaky, plotting, spiteful expression on her beautiful face. There are hundreds of photos, where, if you look at her expression, you would not want that woman as your wife, sister, or mother. And, yes of course, among the thousands of photos taken of the Queen, there are some of her looking, sour because she feels annoyed, sad because she is at a funeral, serious because she is reading the Parliamentary address, or disappointed because her horse has lost a race. But her habitual expression is friendly.

Catherine's family is worth over 50,000 pounds. She went to expensive private school and hung out with royalty and aristocrats. She's not from a humble common background.

In the 1970s, there were lots of Republican rumblings. And what you say is perfectly true- the interest in Diana renewed the popularity of the Royal Family. Diana had celebrity status. She was the Marilyn Monroe of the Royal Family. It did not matter if she was nice, competent or a faithful wife. What mattered was that her face was beautiful and her manner was charming.
