Just bought an 84 as well. This is pretty much exactly what I’m hoping to do. Love the look but I know that tank cover is going to drive me nuts.

Yeah, their isn’t many great options for the tank, makes it look scary tho that’s for sure

Fantastic, it's great to see how many other people see the beauty of these things underneath all that poorly-aged bulk. I just got an 86 GL1200 SE-i and have already begun going through the shop manual, pulling parts off, blasting rust off the old chrome.

Your vid inspired me, I have a87 Aspencade. I closed in the tank using the upper saddle bags as donor panels. I used the metal rear upper fender and relocated above the frame. I' am currently prepping panels for paint. I cut the tips off the exhaust, extended the pipe and rewelded the tips eliminating the crossover muffler. In all the videos, no one talks about how this is a tire shredding machine. I'm looking for softer compound tires to help the launch otherwise i'm going to the darkside.

I lean the hell out of this thing, personally I would stay away from car tires

Dam I love it. Great job, I’ve got two 84 Standards, been wanting to do something like that, but have no idea where/how to start. Thx for sharing this video.

I would say start by taking off all the unnecessary stuff and wire up headlights and then pick a seat and edit your seat frame based on one that you like

I’m working on getting mine looking like that!

Did you use a 7/8 bar on this?

How much did you end up spending on this? I have an '85 that someone started chopping the rear off of and I want to finish it but on a budget.

Hey, love the bike. Actually quite the inspiration for the 84 aspencade build I’m working on right now. How do you like that speedometer? I’ve heard mixed reviews on that one, how does it work in goldwing format?
@Bunghole1007 Жыл бұрын
The actual speedometer function is kind of hard to dial in
@SmokeyFromThe715 Жыл бұрын
@@Bunghole1007 alright. I think I’ll have to go that route. I tried mocking up the oem spedo tonight, no mater what position it looks huge and out of place😂 how much did you end up selling the bike for?
@SmokeyFromThe715 Жыл бұрын
@@Bunghole1007 and one more question(for now😂), did the gear select and fuel gauge functions work on the speedometer?
@Bunghole1007 Жыл бұрын
@@SmokeyFromThe715 it would tell me neutral and the fuel gauge worked for the most part

I just bought an 87 gl1200 and am looking to do something like this. Where did you start with it?
@Bunghole10072 жыл бұрын
Dude just rip everything off, and make a seat frame basically

@Bunghole1007 Жыл бұрын
Didn’t really just kind of tucked and taped and zip tied, you can still see a lot of them
