FA cup weekend back in the day when it was almost on the same level as winning the league. Memories , also what a top team of toffees. Greavsie your killing me. RIP Ian St. John.

FA Cup was thee Trophy to win as a player. Always bigger than the League. The League was a Club thing & the true worth of your club but FAC was the Big One. Now it's a throw away. No money in it as that's what matters now.

You won't see many ex-players doing these type of videos today. What a top Scot Ian St John was, always giving out banter either to us toffees or when England would lose and he would wind up Greavsie!😂

Loved those two. Got a video recorder just to tape the Saint and Greavsie, as I had to work Saturday mornings.

He was a really good sport and very humble. I went to the Ian St John Soccer Camp in Formby and I was having an argument after my team, Everton lost to Liverpool in the FA Cup Final, with some other boys there, and in walks Ian. Other boys told him I felt Everton were better and he laughed, he said I was wrong, and I had an argument with him. Considering who he was and I was just a kid he took it in good spirits. They don't make them like him anymore. Incidentally they always had a game of the coaches and Ian playing against various kids at the end of the week, they usually thrashed them, except one team who could have won, but he cheated like crazy with the decisions, only time he ever did that, all in good humour.

I agree I'm a lifelong Stourbridge fan but growing up as kid in the 80's & 90's he was the best I remember that double save at Goodison from Beardsley then Aldridge I think I maybe wrong in the Derby just after Hillsborough and Aldridge giving him a pat on the head either in disgust or in praise

The days when the FA cup really meant something, and was a special day. Now, shamefully, they even play other matches, even Premier league ones, on the same day.

How come football players dont have fun like this anymore. Years ago fun was commonplace but now there so serious. Like after a game as soon as the interviews finished they start to walk away before the cameras even stopped. Like they cant wait to get away. You never seen that years ago. RIP Saint . Loved S and G

Money. Back then you did not earn generational wealth in your career so you could be less cautious and more laid-back. Now all pro players are focused on maximizing their potential monetarily in a relatively small window of ~10-15y Even lower-level average players earn insane amount of money compared to average working person.
