Here's a very special treat - It's a fresh digitally restored version ( 2020 ) of a Lux Radio Theater program that originally aired in 1955, and it comes from the Australia version of the popular series. Reminder: Every one of my "Movies for your MIND" are in one playlist.
✓✓√✓✓√✓✓√✓√✓√√✓√ STUFF-N-SUCH:
This will be the first time I've uploaded a program that I haven't yet listened to, so I hope it's fairly good! The fact that anyone even ATTEMPTED an audio version of "1984" is definitely worthy of gratitude. #vincentpriceradio
• All programs that I upload are public domain, and are not copyrighted • Another program that's been "Uploaded with Care" by Charlie Stuckey • • All of my "Movies for your MIND" have been unselfishly restored by Lum Edwards •

@@0therun1t21 This is just a repost, I've wrote 1000s now and many with a lot of on the ground experience. For some damn reason, its always me and I care. So I do all I know to do, TRY and then try some more. I'm a survivor, I didn't survive to see everything sold off and destroyed. We actually went out, got caught up and it broke our heart 💔 People were beyond bad, deplorable does fit but its just so many and I hate to say that. If I was involved, BAD and I just can't understand why it had to be that way. Remember, I'm no one, born dead, unwanted, sick, stupid and untrained. The real 🇺🇸 changed it all. Its amazing how 🤔 many comments are off. What, no one wants the study provided by the "Sick☠Man"s boots on the ground approach? To go out in disease in pain 😪 while suffocating and in discomfort to overcome illness in dry western air of America 🇺🇸 like many people in times past have done who have severe lung disease. As a Canary for the country because clearly common 🙄 sense 🙄 has taken a chair with our elders. Elders who chose bookface and mob popularity and not their job. Not leading, not teaching, not showing children how to overcome irrational fears by example of presence. So with no masks ever, no vaccines we've traveled all over the western United States. From January 2020 to now, over thousands of on the ground miles and "I still can't breathe" Showing 🤔 not to be lead around like sheeple going threw the rungs hitting all the level up reward badge points. How earning your way as individuals who compete on an open free market where people as customers vote with their cash 💸 who has the best products, services and flair for personality 🥳😉👍. Not the socialistic market killing, government growing nanny loving state because the children are scared way. The how being free with liberty is hard work, must be maintained with participation and watchful eyes 👀 over the people who run things way. From the top down is how you lead not reward yourselves. Shame on our older generations for leading us 🇺🇸 😪 😕 into this debacle that's just another failure in a long list of failures by our countries leadership. Unfortunately I hate to tell 😒 there is no real science to the masks except to cover faces, people do get sick 😕 and mom and dad know better. Its a financial collapse that politicians politicized for self and industry leadership embraced to cover failures. From banks 🏦 to retailers and cars to jets its all messed up. "Automation" FACT ! I was just trying to breathe, got grabbed up by the giant wheel of life that's constantly going top 🙃 down and down 😉 up again. Life's not safe, easy or for weakness. I was listening to this at random, and by God, it made me wonder where I've heard some of it before this. A band called Ministry has a song called Faith Collapsing and they've used samples from this in that song. This was pretty intense to hear and it set me on a quest to remember where I've heard it previously. Thrilling to say the least. Thanks for putting this on here. I would never have known the two had a connection. I love it.

The previous week in 1955 on the Australian LUX Radio Theatre, the 60 minute version of "Sorry, Wrong Number" was aired starring Miriam Hopkins. It is the only version of :Sorry, Wrong Number" that is known to exist in the 60 minute version and brilliantly performed by Miriam Hopkins. Miriam Hopkins opened the second season of the American version of the LUX Radio Theatre in 1934 in a version of "Seventh Heaven". She later opened the second season of the Australian version of "Sorry, Wrong Number" in 1955 and the next week this version of "1984" was broadcast from the Australian LUX Radio Theatre.

@@SuspenseESCAPEremastered At the end of the 60 minute Australian LUX Radio Theatre version of "Sorry, Wrong Number", Miriam Hopkins and the Hosts discuss "1984" as it was to be the next weeks episode on the Australian LUX Radio Theater. Miriam Hopkins goes on to discuss Melvyn Douglas also being in Sydney for a play and the Hosts discuss how the showing of 1984 in London caused riots. It was just such a coincidence that this version of "1984" was part of the ending interview with Miriam Hopkins. She seemed quite pleased to know that as she called him "Vincent" was going to be in the next Australian LUX radio Theatre episode of their Second Season. Glad to know you found this one as it is excellent and compares well to the Cecil B. DeMille American LUX Radio Theater.

I have only one copy of an Australian Radio Theatre episode and you know mine is "Sorry, Wrong Number" with Miriam Hopkins. I got it years ago from someone in Oregon, who no longer is in the business. Listening to this "1984" episode with Vincent Price solves a little of the show's mystery, as "1984" would have been the second episode of the second Season for the Australian LUX Radio Theatre in 1955, as it is discussed at the ending of SWN when Miriam Hopkins and the Hosts discuss it. It surprises me the Australian LUX Radio Theatre was running into 1955 as the Golden Age of Radio was fast fading from the scene. I can find no information on the Australian version of LUX other that what I have learned from what Miriam Hopkins said at the end of SWN and the next week's episode of "1984" with Vincent Price. At least 2 pieces of the puzzle have been put together. Hopefully a full History of the Show's History will eventually be published as they certainly seemed interested in getting noted Hollywood stars over to Australia at the time.

@@richardmcleod5967 One of the problems with radio dramas from Europe (that is South Africa & Australia) is many were low budget, or not even recorded at all. I'm not certain of the Airdate for "1984" but my audio source has it only as 1955. The guy I got my remastered versions of Suspense and Escape vanished from the internet years ago, without a trace. It's a sad fact - There is no money to be made in audio restoration of public domain programs.

Same with me. The guy I got my one episode of "SWN" from the Australian LUX Radio Theatre vanished. Thinking back on it he probably had many of these Australian LUX Radio Shows as you bought one and so did I. Just wish now I had bought them all. I was only able to get the one copy of "SWN" and it is simply labeled 1955. The audio is excellent as were the broadcasting standards for the Australian LUX Radio Theatre. It is only from what the Hosts and Miriam Hopkins say during the closing interview at the end of the "SWN" episode which clue me into the fact that "1984" was to be the next weeks episode as it is discussed at some length for the ending interview. Also, they do mention that the "SWN" is the first episode of their second season as Miriam Hopkins discusses the fact that she also started off the American LUX Radio second season with a performance of 'Seventh Heaven' with Charles Farrell in 1934. That exact date of "Seventh Heaven" is known although I would need to look it up. So how long the Australian LUX Radio Theatre lasted may never be known, but at least we can have some assurance the Second Season was sometime in 1955, the first episode was Miriam Hopkins in "Sorry, Wrong Number" and the next week of the second season in 1955 starred Vincent Price in "1984" and the third week starred Melvyn Douglas in "Accent On Youth". The reference to Melvyn Douglas by Miriam Hopkins being in Sydney is mentioned at the end of "Sorry, Wrong Number" and also on this broadcast of "1984" as the next week's episode was to have been "Accent on Youth" with Melvyn Douglas. So, we now know that the second season of the Australian LUX Radio Theatre (broadcast sometime in 1955) had for its' first show Miriam Hopkins in "Sorry, Wrong Number", the next week "1984" with Vincent Price and the 3rd week Melvyn Douglas in "Accent On Youth". I wish they had interviewed Vincent Price at the ending of "1984" as was the interview done the previous week at the ending of "Sorry, Wrong Number" with Miriam Hopkins as these final interviews give us a great deal of information. The Australian LUX Radio Hosts did do a good job of listing all of the Actors in "1984" as they had also done with "Sorry, Wrong Number". Now to find "Accent On Youth" with Melvyn Douglas!

@@SuspenseESCAPEremastered If you listen to the "Sorry, Wrong Number" episode with Miriam Hopkins, at the end she talks a good deal at the end about her trip to Australia, the stops on her PAN AM air-flight over to Australia and even how good the the food was she ate on the airplane. She further talks about how nice she found the Australian people and mentions that her friend Melvyn Douglas was also in Australia at the same time in a play I think in Sydney. Also, one of the Australian Actors was chosen to go to Hollywood after evidently a vote by the Australian Radio Staff. It certainly seems to have been recorded in Australia, especially after one would listen to the ending interview and comments by Miriam Hopkins and the staff of the radio show discussing Miriam Hopkins feelings about how nice she found the Country and people of Australia. There is one Internet site where they have 3 or 4 episodes of the Australian LUX Radio Theatre. I would have to try and find it again, as I didn't make a note of its' title, but it shouldn't be interesting to find.

It starred Miriam Hopkins and to my knowledge is the only 60 minute version of "Sorry, Wrong Number" and was aired on the LUX Australian Radio Show starring Miriam Hopkins. I think all of these shows were aired in 1955.

An interesting variation on the story. I didn't care for the chanting at the beginning, it was too obviously cultish to feel natural. But the internal dialogue between Winston and "Winston" was quite an intriguing method of bringing the narrative to life.
