This is the Goals compilation of the 1985-86 season; a season which had the controversial TV Blackout in the early stages (fortunately, a few games were shown abroad). A short video, but plenty of action. Games involved here are as follows:

I remember the TV blackout before Xmas. Unimaginable nowadays with the blanket coverage we get on Sky etc. Mind you it was a lot easier to go to games then so it didn't matter as much.

League cup throws up another surprise winner .Oxford utd had some quality players,especially ray Houghton.

ive seen itv footage of more west ham games that season , forest v ipswich, forest v Everton im sure there was more, but still great stuff

From about 1984 to 1988 Merseyside Derby's seemed to favour the away team. Everton would normally win at Anfield and Liverpool would win at Goodison. This season followed that pattern.

Got the first score wrong in the description at the top. Arsenal lost 2-1 to us, it was part of our 10 game winning streak.

West ham came close to a immortal season ...just ran out of steam in the last few games .Devonshire Mckavennie and cottee on fire .I think third place was there best ever top flight position .

Basically it was a question of live games and money. Mostly money: the TV companies (BBC and ITV) tried to pay way less than the Football League asked for.

Not much Midlands coverage... no games from West Brom, Coventry, nor Forest who were all 1st Division that year. Only game for Leicester, one for Birmingham City and Aston Villa managed 3 games. Slightly biased coverage.
