Loved this video, I'm a 2,5 months owner of a 87, I think, and I learnt so much. Look forward to more. My seat release is damaged so hindering my DIY. But a great ride, real awesome power. The 6psi in fork is interesting. I agree, a thirsty beast but worth it.

Things to know about the vmax carbs need to be synthesized. I’ve always ran hotter spark plugs and high octane gas for best performance and make sure you don’t set the battery on the fuel tank vent hose because it will cause the bike to vapor lock and it will die but all you do is take the gas cap off. Great bike and super fast. Enjoy riding yours.

@@FranciscoGalicia I’m interested how you find the handling. I’m looking for one as a second bike. Mostly for two up touring.
@FranciscoGalicia Жыл бұрын
@@duke7888 the handling is good. At the beginning it was rough but the. I found an air valve in the front for and read the manual and applied 6psi and much softer. This is not a beginner bike as it has too much power and not too much technology on breaks, traction control or curves. I like the bike as it has a lot of power and you "play" when accelerating and spinning the wheel. I still have the original tires and the are dryer and spin a lot. I am waiting for a new set and see how it feels. I was thinking to get it, fix it and sell it but not sure now. Nice bike. I compare it to my last bike xdiavel s 2016. Thanks for your comment
@FranciscoGalicia Жыл бұрын
@@duke7888 sorry. I didn't answer about touring. I think for touring will depend on how you guys are phisically. I am 5"11 and always ride solo. I think is better for short trips. Also the gas consumption is not good.

There is a drain plug underneath the gas tank. I get to mine from the left side cover underneath. Treat & Flush it out good & pull the lower carb drain screws & take air box lid off & spray carbs out with carb cleaner. Then put all back together. I’d change all fluids if bike set for any long length of time.

@FranciscoGalicia9 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for your comment. I haven't change the oil but is on my plans. I didn't see any leaks with the seals but I will consider them as well. I hope to have one of these bike some day! You are lucky you did not have to pull the carbs out and clean them, the previous owner must of ran the motor till it was out of gas. Not sure next time when you do the brakes, split the brake caliper in half, push the piston's back in with a c-clamp. It may leak fluid as it's a dual caliper system. They are slick looking bike.
@FranciscoGalicia9 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for your comments. I really appreciate it. I think the problem was the fuel pump. I replaced it with a new one and cleaned the fuel system. Still have rust inside so I may need to remove the tank and clean good and paint. Thanks for the tip for the breaks.
@thermos7509 ай бұрын
@@FranciscoGalicia if you do that, put 1/2" chunks of gravel in the tank. Count the small rocks, what goes in needs to come out IE 12 in 12 out. Shake the tank back and forth with the rocks in it. It will loosen the rust. There is a cleaner you can buy for that too and run Seafoam at the same time. Good luck!
@FranciscoGalicia9 ай бұрын
@@thermos750 yes. I seen that. I did put a lot of vinegar and brushed but not enough. I think will be a winter project. Thanks for your recommendation
@thermos7509 ай бұрын
@@FranciscoGalicia I would not use "vinegar" as it's a water based cleaner and you don't want that in your gas tank or fuel system! Varsol or paint thinner will work or fresh gas is also a great cleaner and having the sea foam after will help.
@FranciscoGalicia9 ай бұрын
@@thermos750 I used it then clean and dry well also used a special product for rust.

1:08:21 if you would have taken the top off the brake reservoir it would have released the brake caliper to make it easier to push the piston back

@FranciscoGalicia9 ай бұрын
Hola. Saludos
