First thing I did was give mine a once over, loads busted, springs missing etc. Now running beautifully. Still haven’t found a simple way of getting to the sync screws pain in the bum!

On the Magna I have to read the carb tune then shut off the engine and turn WOT and can reach in and turn a screw, then try again. Trial and error on that not while idling. This one may be same way.

I have a 1982 set of VFR 400 carbs (Same V configuration), where the pilot jet point has separated from the pilot Jet screw, and remains in the carburetor when the screw is removed. Any tips or pointers on how I might be able to remove the jammed point ? Would obviously like to save the body if I can. I know mine is a later model but will definitely be using your video as a "how to" . Lot of good content.

Oh, boy, that can be a tough one. Can you feel the tip protruding into the bore? The port for that is right there towards the engine side inside the carb bore. If the tip was jammed in because somebody went all He-Man on the screw, you'll feel the tip. If you can, what I'd try is taking a spoon, like a regular kitchen spoon, grinding/modifying to make a blunt curved pushing tool, hit that spot with a pen torch just to heat it up a bit, then with penetrating oil and push on the bore from the inside with the spoon to pop the tip loose. If you can't feel anything pushing through, AND you're 100% sure the tip is still broken off in there, it is highly unlikely you'll be able to save the carb body. Any manipulation of that tiny hole like trying to push a very thin needle bent at a 90 degree angle into the hole, can screw up the hole easily. But that's also something you might try, if the tip isn't protruding into the carb bore and is apparently recessed in relationship to the bore; is like a sewing needle and bent with heat at 90 degrees because if you're gonna scrap the body anyway, why not try. It might come out easier than you think. I think, however, I'd be sourcing a carb body at the same time.

hi, just a quick one. are the carbs on a 1986 vfr 750 the same as on a 1990 vfr 750?

I've got a 1983 interceptor in my shop right now for a buddy. It's leaking fuel from a couple of the carbs but it only leaks when the bike is running. Are there any other things besides float and needle that would cause this?

Sure. Fuel joints. The originals are plastic. They crack and the o rings go bad. You can get complete sets of aluminum fuel and vent joints on eBay.

You mention a source for a metal fuel tee. I am rebuilding a set of 1986 VFR 750 carbs and the tees are all brittle and/or broken. A metal replacement would be great. I have not been able to find even the plastic originals. Thanks, Bob in Oregon.
