Y otro diciendo que fue el primero en cantar una canción completamente en español en los VMAs cuando Los Lobos son lo que hicieron historia y no solo eso éste tema llegó al #1 del Billboard hot 100 haciendo también historia al ser el primer tema en español al llegar a la cima

To those making comments on the guitars not being plugged in. Miming was common practice with award shows in the eighties. This was so time and money could be spared on rehearsals and line checks. Take Michael Jackson at the Motown 25'th anniversary gala show. Mimed performance because Jackson wasn't with Motown any more and they forbade him to perform "Billy Jean" live. But settled on letting him do a mimed version of that song. The Joke was on them because mimed or not, Jackson pulled the performance of a lifetime. Of course, when the nineties came around and with the whole Milly Vanilly thing, that all changed.

I think the vocals were the only live piece. I wasn’t sure if it was playback but as soon as I heard the accordion I knew it was. Not likely their choice as I’ve done live shows where you don’t know you’re doing playback until you get there lol
