Vin Scully was a legend. Man I miss baseball on NBC in the 1980's.

Love how they talked about teams with a couple big boppers in the middle of the order...Clark and Mitchell, Canseco and McGwire, etc...now teams are stacked with studs all up and down the lineup. So interesting watching these older games and comparing to today's game

Hardly anyone threw hard back then. Totally different game. These were the guys I grew up watching though. Boogie Bear was my guy.

At 14:14 mark Vin Scully jokes around and says that a 5 on the ritchter scale. Who wouldve known that a few weeks later they would have an earthquake. Talk about fate for you.

Really hope Maddux covers his mouth at the mound when talking with his catcher in this game...

In the 5th you can just hear that the announcers sensing Williams will make the Cubs pay

How can you not win with Maddux out there? Granted he was very young, but I was very disappointed in 89

He was so bad! We should have won the pennant this year.

This cub team overachieved. Their offense was 3 players. And two of those players did nothing in postseason. Even if Cubs had somehow won this series, no way would they have beat the A’s. Oakland would’ve won that series in 3 games. The fourth would’ve been canceled for mercy reasons. Sandberg peaked in 84’. Dawson peaked in 87’. Grace was amazing. But as a whole Cubs we’re clearly overmatched.

Wow, 12 runs allowed by Greg Maddux in this series. How is he in the HOF? 1:08:30

So you judge a player's career based on ONE series? How asinine 👎

I think Dunston would of had more MLB success if the Cubs turned him into a closer or Centerfielder.

Yeah I always thought they should have made him a pitcher ...he could have been a good hitting pitcher

10 years later Maddux would’ve ate up that long swing of Clark

How did Clark do against the braves 11 years later in 2000 playoffs?

NOT! After all, it would be kinda hard for Maddux to consume anything when he was eaten alive first by Clark!🤘🤩🤘

Dawson swung at three balls.

Those were 2 nasty sliders. The swing and a miss on the fastball could have been called a strike imo.

@jimc.goodfellas

Mike Schmidt reported from the sidelines that Clark had said something to set him off, but another account says Downs made a quip to him about his "little hit" that he had just gotten, Dunston not taking it well

@Carolus Magnus Well to be fair, in the comments from game 3, there were people complaining of no sound months ago, so the uploader must have fixed it.
