1990 Ford F-Superduty Fuel Filter Heater Water Separator Repair O-ring Replacement

In this video I will show you how to fix and replace an o-ring in a fuel filter on a 1990 Ford F-Superduty 7.3 Diesel.
The reason I replaced it was because after I replaced the starter I noticed that my fuel filter was leaking and I somewhat knew what was going on.
So this is a step by step video that shows you how I did that.
Tools I used were:
-14mm wrench
-16mm wrench
-19mm wrench
-Pliers

Was this issue causing air to get in the system causing your engine to stall? It's the problem I'm having with my 94 7.3IDI turbo.

@@johnnyohness mine was just leaking. It would run fine. The new o-ring fixed mine.

thank you for this video. I just replaced all my glow plugs to find out I am still having starting issues. 1 of the glow plugs connectors is not even plugged in. imagine air is leaking into my fuel system at the o ring you showed, wonderful. also need new o rings for my injectors. Still managed to start up after enough cranking. But have horrible amount of smoke coming out my exhaust. ANyone know if excess fuel in oil will burn off or should I just drain my entire pan? Are my cranking no starts adding fuel into the oil and causing horrible smoke?

I have a 94 f250 7.3 turbo. I was having trouble with air getting into the system somewhere. It all started after replacing the fuel filter. I'm just wondering if that Oring you replaced was causing air in your system and making the truck stall? Seems my fuel filter is not filling all the way. When removing it's always only half full. just wondering if this could be the problem with mine?

Thanks for the video...just replaced my starter after watching this. Have leaks from housing like you did. Do you remember o-ring size?

@@MechanicsLife I just bought a box of assorted rings at Oreillys. And found some that worked. Were not exact matches, but close enough. No leaks.

Anyone know what the plastic connection is called? The o ring connection. Mine is destroyed

It's a fuel heater that is really not needed. The o rings are inside the head. There is another one besides the one shown in this video. You'll see it.
