A bad ass diesel, with the Allison Transmission too!

Yes. All buses throughout the 80s and 90s had Allison transmissions, unless they had a stick shift. This bus had the AT545, which was the most trouble-free transmission we ever had.

@@bgasales upgrade to a MT643 when the AT545 blows up. A bit stronger with 3rd and 4th lockup.

I do!! Gas or diesel. This one had a Fuel Pincher 8.2 Detroit.

I can't say I know the specifics to your state, but in GA, you just have to paint it a completely different color, and it can't say school bus on it. There may or may not be a requirement on the lights.

Here in Idaho there's no laws about owning and operating a school bus for personal use but the lights and stop arm must be removed and any school bus insignia but it can remain yellow

doesent really sound like a detroit diesel, there more like 2 stroke diesel engines

This particular engine, the 8.2 Fuel Pincher, came out in 1980. Chevy, GMC, and Ford used it in conventional buses. For flat nose buses, Asia-Smith, Carpenter, Thomas, and even the Bluebird All American, could be ordered with the 8.2L. The 6.2 and 6.5 liter GM diesel engines were actually 4 stroke Detroit Diesels. 2 strokes were inefficient and could not meet 1998 emission standards.
